Ulemu Msungama Released on Bail, Malawi Police still seeking to arrest Jessie Kabwila

The Malawi police has released Malawi congress party member Ulemu Msungama who was arrested on Sunday on allegation that he and other Malawi congress party members were plotting to force the incumbent president out of office.

 

National Police Spokesperson Nicolus Gondwa Confirmed the development saying Currently the police in hunting for Malawi congress party spokesperson Jessie Kabwila and Chairperson of Legal Affairs Committee in Parliament, Louis  chakhwantha who are also Suspected to be behind the whatsapp conversation aiming at forcing president Artha Peter Mutharika out of Office .

 

 

Gondwa described the act as sedition intention contrary to section 51 of the penal code.

Speaking in an interview after being released on Bail Msungama refuted being involved in any whatssap conversation of that kind.

In his speech at MCP headquarters in Lilongwe on Monday,few minutes after the bail, the party’s President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera hailed Malawi congress party members for the spirit of solidarity and showing love to Ulemu the time he was under police.

“I would like to salute you all members of this party for being there when ulemu was arrested,this is love, uninjustice to one person is uninjustice to us all ” Chakwera said.

Chakwera also thanked the acting president of Peoples Party Uladi Mussa for showing up at kanengo police saying he demonstrated oneness.

Earlier on Monday ,angry Malawi congress party  converged at area 30 police where Msungama was detained asking for his immediate release.
