BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)–United Nation Secretary General Ban Ki Moon’s plane abruptly landed at Kamuzu International Airport in the capital Lilongwe Sunday night after running out of fuel.
Minister of Information Communication Technology and Civic Education Patricia Kaliati confirmed of the development in an interview with ZBS saying it was one-hour stopover en route to South Africa where the UN secretary General will attend HIV/AIDS conference.
President Peter Mutharika swiftly sent agriculture minister George Chaponda and scores of police for the security of the UN chief.
However, social media is awash with reports that Ban Ki Moon stopped at KIA to have a talk with some of the Cabinet Ministers under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
But information minister Kaliati said Ban did not have a scheduled meeting with any government official.
“President Mutharika sent the Agriculture minister just for protocol, to be with him when his plane was being refueled, they did not hold diplomatic discussions,” said Kaliati.
Any jet aircraft flying from Nairobi to Johannesburg’s will not need to refuel. Any refueling is planned. If the plane leaked of out fuel to fail to finish the remaining two hours of the flight then it couldn’t have flown. Every time a passenger aircraft lands if gets refueled (visible from a lay mans point of view). Only the control towel would know the purpose of the stop but one hr sounds typical of a warning light type of a problem in which they land just to inspect and rule out the fuck
something fishy happening here. how can the whole UN Secretary General board a plane that is under fueled? he was at KIA for something known by the corrupt peter mutharika administration.
