Joyce Banda is now former President of the Republic of Malawi because she under estimated the political ruthlessness of Peter Mutharika as many still do in Malawi.
When Bingu WA Mutharika was pushing his young brother for the Presidency, Joyce Banda rebelled because she saw Peter as being timid and she thought she was smarter than him. Looking back we now see that If not the untimely death of Bingu, Joyce Banda would not have come close to the Presidency. It is almost obvious that Peter Mutharika with Bingu campaigning for him would have won the Presidency in a landslide.
I know some will argue with this Analysis saying Bingu was leading the country in such a disastrous direction, insuring that the country would have rebelled against DPP rule. I beg to differ, I saw a Bingu who would have corrected his approach in readiness for the elections. After all the donors are so predictable and their demands could have been met and they would have treated the Big Kahuna as the prodigal son.
Peter Mutharika has mastered the art of using surrogates to attack his political enemies. Before Ntata turned on Peter he led the attacks on Joyce Banda. Basically reducing Joyce Banda to a puppet for the West on social media.
While Joyce Banda was receiving accolades in the west, In Malawi many were seeing her as an incompetent President, reduced to delivering maize to villagers who ended up voting for Peter anyway.
The current perceived political enemy of Peter Mutharika for 2019 is the Reverend Lazarus Chakwera. If we go by what the surrogates like Magede Si Wandale and others are doing on Social media, the Reverend better start paying attention.
Magede writes that:
“I understand that Malawi is just too big for Chakwera and his MCP, but instead, what has he done for his constituents as a parliamentarian, nothing. Yes! Chakwera is just too good at speaking but when it comes to the ground, he is such a useless political Pharisee.
As a leader of opposition, whose office is fully funded by money from our tax, by now Chakwera was supposed to know that, it is not only childish but also imprudent for a man like him to critic the SONA with baseless arguments like, “the government was mentioned many times than Malawians. “What kind of shallow thinking is this?
What has Chakwera done for this nation in the capacity as leader of opposition? I guess you will say, responding to State of The Nation Address. Ok Fine, if not for the state of the nation address, what else can we point to be his achievement as the leader of opposition? Nothing!

Lazarus Chakwera better take note and recruit his own surrogates before he suffers the fate of Joyce Banda
