ATLANTA: A former Odessa missionary to Malawi convicted of sexually abusing eight orphans between 1997 and 2009 at the Victory Christian Children’s Home has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
Gerald

ll, 66, pleaded guilty in May to one count of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place after he was accused of offering the boys amenities such as hot water to lure them into his house before sexually abusing them.
Campbell was also ordered to pay $40,000 in restitution and to serve a lifetime term of supervised release after his prison sentence.
Several boys at the home reported abuse to employees, including accusations that Campbell raped, forced the boys to shower with him and paid them money — one victim reported he gave $3.78 on multiple occasions — to keep them quiet or recant accusations.
Trial Attorneys Leslie Fisher and Austin Berry, as well as Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandi Young, prosecuted the case. Michael King was the defense attorney. Senior U.S. District Judge Robert Junell presided over the case.
