USA Football star is fined for farting in meetings and yet we mocked George Chaponda

George Chaponda when he was Justice Minister certainly believed passing gas should be included among the various offenses punishable by law.  “Just go to the toilet when you feel like farting,” he told Maravi Post, before noting that maybe local chiefs would deal with any such dangerous offenders.

The Malawi government went as far as introducing a bill in an attempt to deal with citizens who pass gas in public. Our nation was embarrassed and made a laughing stock.

Solicitor General Anthony Kamanga then begged to differ, arguing that the “fouling the air” reference only directly meant air pollution. “How any reasonable or sensible person can construe the provision to criminalizing farting in public is beyond me,” he said. Another Malawian was quoted as saying, “”How can this government criminalize the release of intestinal gases … Everyone does that, even if it’s in public or it has an accompanying sound which is boring, making it criminal is a joke of democracy.”

Now come the mile high Denver Broncos. It’s not uncommon for professional athletes to be fined for their actions, such as showing up to work late or celebrating after a touchdown. Fining players is a way for a league or team to try to break bad habits.

Well, the Denver Broncos are doing what they can to get defensive star Von Miller to, um, control himself during meetings.

Miller revealed to Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post that he gets fined (a lot) by the Broncos for passing gas during meetings. Seriously:

ON twitter @NickiJhabvala “Von Miller said the Broncos have a fine system for, um, flatulence in meetings. Said he thinks he’s been fined the most”
