UTM RALLY: Outspoken Patricia Kaliati Blasts Government for Failing to Develop Malawi

By Twink Jones Gadama

UTM Party’s Secretary General, Patricia Kaliati, has lambasted the current government for failing to develop Malawi, saying the country has stagnated due to poor leadership.

Speaking at a rally held at Masintha Ground in Lilongwe, Kaliati asserted that Malawi has failed to progress despite having abundant resources. She attributed this stagnation to the lack of visionary leadership, saying those in power are more focused on personal gain than developing the nation.

Kaliati drew parallels with countries like Zambia and China, which she said were in a similar state of stagnation in the 1980s but have since made significant strides in development. She emphasized that UTM is committed to changing Malawi’s trajectory and ensuring that the country reaches its full potential.

The rally, which was attended by thousands of UTM supporters, was a testament to the party’s growing popularity. Kaliati’s speech was met with thunderous applause, with many in attendance expressing their frustration with the current state of affairs in Malawi.

Kaliati’s sentiments were echoed by other UTM officials, who emphasized the need for a change in leadership to ensure that Malawi develops. The party has promised to bring about meaningful change if elected to power, with a focus on economic development, education, and healthcare.

As the rally ended, it was clear that UTM has struck a chord with many Malawians who are eager for change. With the party’s message of development and progress resonating with the masses, it remains to be seen how the ruling party will respond to the growing challenge posed by UTM.
