
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police are keeping in custody Dr Jessie Kabwila, who is a UTM executive member for inciting violence and threatening judges.
Dr Kabwila was arrested on Saturday night by 15 police officers and she is being kept at Area 3 regional office in the capital Lilongwe.
A family member however confirmed the arrest of the former Salima North West Constituency lawmaker that will in police custody pending bail on Monday, January 13, 2020
According to police charge sourced reveals that the former Salima North West Constituency lawmaker threatened to cause civil unrest if the judges sitting at the constitutional court rule against nullification of presidential results during Thursday’s demonstrations organised by Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC).
In her words, the former Malawi Congress Party publicity secretary said, “We were listening to the proceedings and am here to tell you we won’t accept anything other than nullification, so get ready” (tonse timamvera mlanduwu, ndiye sitilora zauchitsiru zilizonse kupatula kugamula kuti kuchitike rerun, apo bii muzanukha mphira mdziko muno).
Kabwila was part of HRDC demos against the police on Msundwe rape saga.
