Viral scandal involving female Sergeant Rhodah Njobvu shakes Zambia National Service

LUSAKA-(MaraviPost)-The Zambia National Service (ZNS) is under public scrutiny following a scandal involving one of its female members, Sergeant Rhodah Njobvu, who has been suspended after a sexually explicit video allegedly featuring her surfaced online.

The ZNS, through a press statement released on July 28, 2025, confirmed the suspension of Sergeant Njobvu pending the outcome of both internal disciplinary proceedings and an ongoing police investigation.

The video, which has sparked widespread debate across Zambia and neighboring countries, has been condemned for bringing disrepute to the image of the disciplined force.

According to Brigadier General Mable Mulenga-Nyone, Chief of Public Relations and Liaison at ZNS, the organization considers the conduct of Sergeant Njobvu to be in direct violation of ZNS codes of conduct and military ethics.

As part of the disciplinary measures, Sergeant Njobvu has been placed on half pay and relieved of all official duties until the conclusion of the investigations.

Sources close to the force have hinted that this is not the first time social media related behavior has triggered internal concern, but this incident marks one of the most serious in recent years due to its public nature.

ZNS leadership has reiterated that the final decision on Sergeant Njobvu’s future within the institution will depend on the legal outcome and the recommendations of the internal disciplinary board.

ZNS has pledged to fully cooperate with the Zambia Police Service, and any further developments will be made available to the public in due course.
