LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police Service on Thursday, January 15, 2026 arrested former Minister of Homeland Security Ezekiel Ching’oma.
Ching’oma is currently at Lumbadzi Police Station in Lilongwe, his lawyer Jefferson Luwa has confirmed.
Luwa however disclosed that the former Lilongwe East Constituency Parliamentarian was picked from his house in Lilongwe around 5am and dropped at Lumbadzi police around 6am.
“They simply picked him, left him at Lumbadzi police and said their bosses wanted to question him on something. He has not been charged, or told what he has been picked for.
“Since morning, there has been nothing. I am told it’s the fiscal police, and I am heading there now to find out what he has been picked for,” Luwa said.
National Police Service (MPS) spokesperson Lael Chimtembo asked for time before commenting on the matter.
Ching’oma becomes the fourth senior Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member to be arrested since December last year after Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda.
