I will not abuse constituency development fund—Karonga MCP shadow MP Mwanyongo

I will not abuse constituency development fund—Karonga MCP shadow MP MwanyongoKARONGA (MaraviPost)—Following the report of the abuse of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) by the current as well as previous law makers in Karonga North-West constituency, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) shadow Member of Parliament (MP) Daniel Chitonya Mwanyongo has pledged to use the fund for its intended purpose.

In an interview, Mwanyongo said his intention is not to squander tax payers money at the expense of the community but to develop the area.

According to the agriculturalist and business tycoon who have joined the party recently, the community should trust him because he want to bail out the area from developmental problems.

“Listening to your complaint especially on the misused of CDF by MPs, I want to assure you that development will be my priority when I take the throne,” said Mwanyongo.

“What I believe is that the MPs who misused development funds are those who are incapable to develop their areas as well as people who want to enrich themselves,” he added.

He said “I have not joined politics to enrich myself but develop the district and eliminate hunger problem.”

In his remarks, the constituency chairperson Luis Mvula said Mwanyongo is the only hope of developing Karonga North-West.

“This constituency is regarded as dead area especially when it comes to development. This is because our elected leaders do not have vision as well as selfish,” said Mvula.

“But with the coming of Mwanyongo who is well educated and business person we believe that he is a key to unlock the problem. Therefore lest hold our hands and support him.”

The meeting was graced by different party officials and attended by hundreds of followers.

Currently, MCP has only one MP in Karonga district but some people believe that the party will have more coming 2019 because of the joining of many people.
