Youths urged to exercise voting power to shape Malawi’s future

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-Renowned political scientist Nandin Patel has emphasized the need for youths to participate in the upcoming September 16 general elections to influence change in in the country.

Patel who is the Executive Director(ED) of the Institute for Policy Interaction,made the remarks on Friday during a meeting at Soche Technical College in Blantyre, organized to encourage youth participation in the polls.

She noted that voter apathy remains a significant threat, with many youths disillusioned by unfulfilled promises from politicians.

However, Patel stressed that youths have the power to shape the country’s future through their votes, given their significant proportion of the population.

On her part, a journalism student,Brandina Chifukwa praised the initiative, saying it has enlightened youths on their crucial role in Malawi’s democratic and development agenda.

Managing Director of Primacy Ernest Thindwa, also urged youths to understand the reasons behind their voting decisions and to carefully consider candidates contesting in the elections.
