Zambian national dies after taking excessive liquor

A 47 year old Zambian national recently died in Mchinji after taking a lot of alcoholic spirits excessively on an empty stomach.

The incident occurred on 18th January 2017 where a Zambian national identified as
Boniface Miti (47) of Mgabi village in the area of chief Mpezeni in Chipata Zambia left his home village to Malawian side at Mwami (Zambia/Malawi) boarder within Kaombe village T/A Mlonyeni in Mchinji to drink beer.

According to the father to the deceased, Mr. Martin Miti (67), he told Mchinji Police Station that during this fateful day, his son was seen taking liquor on an empty stomach.

He further said that the deceased was later found inside an inhabited house which was previously used as a bar of Abdul Binali, (23) in Mchinji the following day lying unconsciously.

Bad News in Mchinji

The owner of the building informed his relatives about the development who at the time were already within the border also on a beer drinking spree.

Although the relatives tried to save the life of Miti but it was already too late as he had already died.

The police took the body of the deceased to the hospital where it was the death was because of hypoglycaemia.

Meanwhile body has been repatriated to the deceased home country, Zambia for burial.

Meanwhile, the police are advising the general public to avoid taking liquor excessively on empty stomach in order to reduce such kind of incidents in their area.
