101-year-old man defiles his 12-year-old great-granddaughter in Botswana

A Motswana Centenarian of Molalatau village has been accused of defiling his 12-year-old primary school-going great-granddaughter.

The Bobonong Police Station commander, superintendent Paul Seoko confirmed the news in a statement.

According to Supt. Seoko, the family of the victim reported the incident to police after the 101 year old allegedly sexually abused the young girl.

The minor victim reportedly was taken to the nearest clinic for medical test and examination where it confirmed that she had been sexually abused before she was given treatment.

According to Mmegi, the centenarian suspect was taken for questioning but has been released from police custody pending further investigation into the matter.

Supt. Seoko has however expressed great concern over the alarming rate of defilement cases recorded in the country.

The country has registered a total of 207 defilement cases from January to date compared to 137 same in the period last year.

Seoko has consequently urged parents to always take care of their children and always report defilement cases to ensure perpetrators are brought to book and face the law.
