BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Investigations into area 43 land grabbing saga has revealed that Natural Resources Minister, Eisenhower Mkaka, is currently building houses on the land meant for public roads constructions.
Mkaka who admitted to own houses in the area has denied using public land.
The minister who is also Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General justified the act saying he purchased the said land in 2020 from chiefs.
Mkaka said was not aware that the land was meant for Road construction hence the decision to use it for his own infrastructures.
The revelation comes barely a few days after Area 49 residents complained about politicians allegedly grabbing and developing land originally meant for public use in Lilongwe.
Following the compliant, the Chief of Staff at the State House Prince Kapondamgaga released a memo warning against acts of some State House workers who were involved allegedly land grabbing and hence denting the President Lazarus Chakwera.
Meanwhile, Daimon Kambewa,one of Area 49’s residents has called on citizens in the country to stand-up and speak against any signs of abuse of power by authorities.
