According to Citizen Digital, the issue came to light after a family by the name Joshua Omanga, together with other well-wishers tried unsuccessfully to gain entry into the house that was on fire.

“We tried to break into the house only to find that the doors were locked from inside. The deceased was in the house with his three children. One of the children was rescued,” said Omanga.

The man was identified as 43-year-old Erick Hasa Makoro who reportedly had been diagnosed with mental illness at Masaba Sub County Hospital in Keroka.

Prior to the tragic incident, he reportedly had an argument with his wife Phoebe Nyatichi Omanga before he set their house on fire.

The inferno claimed the man’s life, that of their two children and left one child injured. Meanwhile, bodies of the three have been taken to Gucha in Keroka town for a postmortem.
