LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance government has lifted ban on holding conferences outside duty stations for civil servants and state agencies institutions to support tourism sector’s economic recovery.
Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe announced in the August house on Friday, November 25, 2022 during his presentation of 2022-2023 budget review.
Gwengwe said government is also considering extending the Priority Industries Scheme to local companies even those that were registered before 2013 to level the play field.
He said as the country look outside for investments we should not forget local companies that must be encouraged to reinvest.
The minister observes that the first half of the 2022-2023 Budget implementation faced pressure from prevailing macroeconomic imbalances, devaluation and inflation which caused deviations in revenue and expenditure against expected outcome.
He adds that the war in Ukraine fueled the increase in specific commodity prices.

This comes also barely a week after Linde hotels complained of business decline over the ban.
