In a bid to step up security of national examinations for this year’s Junior Certificate of Education (JCE), Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has placed toll free line calling the general public to report any case of cheating.
JCE exams which starts Tuesday, May 26 to Friday June 5, 2015 has about 170 000 registered candidates seating the examination across the country.
Speaking in an interview with Maravi Post on Monday evening, Maneb’s spokesperson Simeon Maganga said all examinations materials have been dispatched already to centres conducting the exams and that funds for invigilators are also released for smoothing running the exams as currently Maneb was paying subsistence allowances to residential officers based on their grades.
“In a bid to step up security of national examinations, Maneb has introduced two toll-free lines for reporting examination malpractices as an addition to the already existed short code 199 from TNM lines only. The new numbers are 847 for Airtel, TNM and Access line while 800 00847 is for MTL lines only.
“Therefore, we are appealing to the general public to use these free services in reporting any suspected case of examination misconduct in their communities to end cheating which derails exams standards”, urges Maganga.
This year’s JCE exams come on the heels of tight security Maneb hard on 2015 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLC) exams with single cheating practice reported of two primary schools at Nambumba in Dowa district as Maneb is still following up the case.
