MDF confirms Chilima’s plane crashed in Chikangawa forest

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Defense Force,Army commander, Valentino Phiri has confirmed that the plane which carried Veep Saulos Chilima and his team clashed in Chikangawa forest in Mzimba district.

Phiri told the media conference that the search is being hindured by the foggy which has demead the where the aircraft is believed to have crashed.

He said MDF discourages the huge volume that the people are taking by spreading force information.

Phiri added that the coordination is being sorely by Malawi Defence force and urged general public to verify with the army on any information on the matter.

“We have our teams from Chikangawa, airport and we encourage the general public to get the messages from them only,” said Phiri.

On his part Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu said MAlawi Regulatory Authority (MACRA) registered all the phones which are on board and their last seen was at Chikangawa.

Kunkuyu said MACRA has created the emergency call center to enhance the search of the missing plane.

“No amount of hearsays will help to calm the situation,we call upon malawian to pray just like Chilima is their own relative,” said Kunkuyu.

He has call upon the religious leaders to help in calming the situation not adding up salts to nation by their own confusing social media updates.

He therefore said government will be updating the nation in every 2 hours.
