Good evening Friends,
On Saturday, June 13, 2015, I received in audience the United Nations Under Secretary-General and UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe and his delegation at the Four Seasons Hotel in South Africa.
I was very glad to host Mr. Sidibe and his entire delegation because the UNAIDS is doing wonderful work in our country – Malawi in the fight against the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
The organization has been supporting us throughout our struggle with the epidemic and has been instrumental in our recent success to secure $USD611 million HIV funding from the Global Fund as well as assisting us with the National HIV/AIDS Strategic plan.
Mr. Sidibe hailed the progress we have made as a nation in the HIV/AIDS response and the efforts we are still making to achieve our goals including our commitment in the 90-90-90 treatment target to help end the AIDS epidemic by 2030.
Let us all work together in these efforts to improve on the gains we have made and sustain our position in the global HIV/AIDS fight.
