LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera government through the Ministry of Lands has disclosed that will soon issue offer-letters to developers who already applied, allocating them plots at the New City Centre in area 32, Lilongwe following completion of access roads in the area.
Minister of Lands Deus Gumba made the remarks in Lilongwe on Friday after touring the areas which he said will have modern buildings of eight storeys and above, in addition to parks and recreation facilities.
“We have also done access roads in Kanjedza township in Blantyre (16 Kilometers), in area 43 sector 4 in Lilongwe (9.4 kilometres), and in Katoto, Mzuzu (2.9 kilometres), all constructed using local revenue,” Gumba said.
The minister commended the contractor for coming up with roads that will last for generations.
Gumba said his ministry is already intensifying monitoring and will apply the effort on the New City Centre to ensure elected buildings conform to the set standards.
Project Manager for area 32 access roads construction, Jephter Chagunda has assured Malawians of the durability of the class-two road which will be able to handle heavy traffic during constructions in the New City Centre.
Measurement Engineer for, L. Gravam Consulting Services Limited, the project’s consultant for area 43 access roads construction the tour ended, Harvey Liwawa said all the works done by the contractor in the project are within the specifications.
He said the project started in November 2023 and currently is at 78 percent completion and expected to reach 100 percent on 30th November 2025.
“We are remaining with surfacing as we have already done 30 percent of it, and currently we are also doing the drains,” he said, adding the road is of the desired quality.#MaloAngaChumaChanga#
