BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Former Malawi Defence Force (MDF) officer Major Rodrick Mkaka has denied allegations that he is involved in a scheme to assassinate estranged Vice President Saulos Chilima as one way of delaying the forthcoming fresh presidential election.
On Tuesday social media was abuzz with information that Mkaka, now working as Head of security at Escom, has been hired by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to assassinate Chilima.
It was alleged that Mkaka has been following Chilima to all places he has been visiting for campaign rallies including the northern region where the Vice President is currently holding campaign rallies.
Responding, Mkaka has described the allegations as cheap propaganda.
Mkaka says he has been in the north for Escom duties.
“We are doing land assessment countrywide for title deeds and check encroachment,” said Mkaka.
Mkaka says he contacted Chilima to rebuke the claims that are bent towards denting his image.

Mkaka a DPP cadet once stood at the party convention as Director of Research and Training prior to May 21, 2019 polls.
Governing DPP spokesman and Minister of Homeland Security Nicholas Dausi described the assertions as desperate attempt by the Tonse Alliance to deceive the electorate.
