Tragedy! India’s plan crash claims 18 lives

KERALA-(MaraviPost)-About 18 people have been confirmed dead and 46 people have been seriously injured following plane crash in India.

The civil aviation ministry confirmed the tragedy in a statement on Friday Evening of August 7, 2020

Reports revealed that Boeing-737 flight Flying Indians stranded overseas as a result of the coronavirus pandemic from Dubai had 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots, 4 cabin crew on board at the time of the crash at Kozhikode Calicut International Airport

AFP news agency indicated that heavy rains that caused poor visibility resulted the flight number IX-1344 to overshot the runway and went down 35-feet into a slope before breaking up into two pieces.

Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said a formal investigation into the crash will be conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims together with the Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
