As the country continues to face economic crisis, the Opportunity International Bank of Malawi (OIBM) has on Monday shutdown some of its three branches in the north Maravipost has established.The report found by the Maravi Post revealed that the three concerned branches are Nkhata-bay, Chitipa and Jenda.
Despite OIBM Executive Managers reluctance to issue an official statement on the matter, this reporter has learnt that the workers will meet with their bosses at Mzuzu hotel this Friday.
Some bank customers in affected areas have tipped our reporter about the development. They said “we witnessed the closure and that the police were there to provide security to the area.”
One of the bank employees in Chitipa also confirmed the development on a condition of anonymity saying “we have already presented our working document and what remains now is to hear the bank’s plan on our future but we shall not entertain any nonsense.”
