“An investment in education guarantees to yield dividends’-Chakwera

…Presidential Charity Initiative Provides MK300 Million for the Reconstruction of Freddy-Damaged Muona Primary School

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Presidential Charity Initiative has provided MK300 million for the reconstruction of Muona Primary School in Traditional Authority (TA) Mlolo, Nsanje.

The school was completely damaged by Freddy, the longest lasting tropical cyclone which affected over 2 million people in the country; in March 2023.

Speaking on Thursday (17th April, 2025) at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe when he presided over the presentation of cheques to beneficiaries of the initiative, which included Muona (through DoDMA) and needy students from six public universities, President Dr Lazarus Chakwera,  who is also the patron of the initiative and Minister responsible for Disaster Management Affairs, described the provision of the funds as an investment guaranteed to yield dividends.

Said the President, “This investment will yield dividends that will far outweigh and outlast the resources we are putting in today. What we need going forward is to invest in the education of young people who will match our emergency response protocols with the kind of world class professionalism.”

In her remarks, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Jessie Kabwila said the Presidential Initiative’s gesture signifies the power of innovation and philanthropy.

In total, the Presidential Charity Initiative has provided K525 million for the reconstruction of Muona Primary School, having supported the cause with K225 million in August 2024.

The funds will be used for the construction of eight classrooms and an administration block at a new and safer place.

My Take On It: Prophet, teach us to learn what you do to make wealth!

“Do not touch my anointed ones. Do my prophets no harm.” – Psalm 105:15

‘Do not touch My anointed ones! Do no harm to My prophets!’ – 1 Chronicles 16:22

21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him! 22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what wrong has he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. 23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. –  Luke 23:21-23

Malawi is wrong, very wrong to order the extradition of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife back to South Africa. The numerous attempts being made (both from within Malawi and from South Africa) to dethrone, embarrass, and level all manner of charges against this man of God, are uncanny, strange, and mysterious, many based on hearsay and animosity. The most recent court ruling deciding that the Malawian Man of the Cloth must be handed over to South African authorities to face charges levelled against him is like a sledgehammer to one’s own family member. My stern advice, as a citizen, filled with empathy, compassion, and love for all Malawians is not to listen to the lions roaring from outside our borders, we should never agree to release our own to be attacked by outsiders.

Being very concerned that even the court has drawn a dagger at the prophet, I sought views from some gentlemen and one gentlelady.  I was surprised that what I learned was in the hearts of most Malawians.  I asked:

Give me your opinion of the ruling on extraditing Bishop Bushiri and wife back to South Africa? Can Malawi afford to lose a vital productive son of the soil? Is it correct to throw him into the proverbial lions’ den, knowing the SA police are reportedly said to be? Can we not send him to court here in Malawi, instead of sending him to the gallows in South Africa? The responses were varied, but similar in color and passion: Malawians believe the prophet is getting what he should get, he should be sent to South Africa to face the music for his reported (not proved) wrong-doing.

One guy: Why did he and his wife leave the way they did? Why do the SA people want him and his wife to return?

Me: All lies because! Because he was succeeding in doing what the other religious organizations have been doing all these years, he created some heat, providing visible competition. In a short time, he had garnered so much popularity, the government gave him police escort and provided security at his gatherings that were attracting 300,000 to 500,000 people per session. But some concerned people, it is alleged, started piling up stories about the prophet, to discredit him, making so much trouble for him. There were other people that started blackmailing him and asking him for money. He returned home.

He has a problem even in his own country the people took in full fashion all the stories g in SA; sadly, there are reported stories of some that expected to be palm-oiled. I informed my fellow Malawians that when the prophet holds meetings like in the USA, India, Germany, it is people from other countries that freely work, organizing meetings and events. Some even donate money for his upkeep and travels.

While Prophet Bushiri and family returned home, he has established farms and other businesses that are feeding hungry Malawians

During Hurricane Freddy, Prophet Bushiri brought five helicopters to help in the rescue effort of many Malawians that were stranded in the disaster

MORE POSITIVES ABOUT THE PROPHET

Stories making the rounds are that Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s spiritual father is Prophet Uebert Angel, a multimillionaire, businessman, and leader of a mega church in the UK. Prophet Angel is a British-Zimbabwean businessman, author, and the founder of Good News Church, also known as Spirit Embassy. He is also the founder of The Angel Organization, a UK-registered charity

Some facts about Prophet Angel:

1. *Businessman and entrepreneur*: Angel has business interests in various sectors, including real estate, mining, and finance.

2. *Author*: He has written several books on spirituality, personal development, and business.

3. *Philanthropy*: Angel’s charity, The Angel Organization, focuses on education, healthcare, and community development in Africa and the UK.

4. *Spiritual leader*: As the founder of Good News Church, Angel has a significant following in the UK, Africa, and globally.

5. *Mentorship*: Angel is known to have mentored several high-profile individuals, including Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, whom he refers to as his “spiritual son.”

Prophet Angel is widely recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit, philanthropic work, and spiritual leadership.

Me: Prophets Angel and Bushiri’s problems are that they both learned the non-blacks’ money making machine. The activities that Prophet Angel is involved in, Prophet Bushiri also does: he has written books, a publishing firm, has farms, and charity organizations and events. This is the lifeline of many mega churches as we know them in the US, UK, Europe, South Africa, India, South Korea, and beyond.

Give and it shall be given back unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together. So people gave; divine answers were gotten; they gave some more. And the non-blacks in SA got angry and started throwing dirt on the man of God.

Malawians, let us learn to love our own people. No one else will do it.

One lady: BUT Madame, these are not men of God. We hear many stories about them.

Me: Oooooh YES they are men of God. Remember what Jesus said: you shall know them by their fruit. Prophets like Shepherd Bushiri accumulate wealth and help the poor, every time they see a need, they are the first to jump in and help. Do you want God to bless you with money? I asked her. If yes, have a vision to help the people around you.

Prophet Bushiri and Prophet Angel have their fingers on what non-black Christian evangelists have their fingers in. Some are happy and welcoming. Others are not. Our prophets are doing great things with their money: helping their poor brothers and sisters.

One guy: Can you at least accept our plea not to write about Bushiri? This is not ordering you, but begging you, please find something else to write about.

Another guy: It’s not about other evangelists. It’s areas of society that are upset.

Me: Yeah! God heard the prayer too. Like George Floyd, it is hard to breathe.

Another guy: While he may be a financially successful individual from our community, the serious allegations against him, including money laundering and other immoral acts, cannot be ignored.

Should we really be celebrating and emulating someone who embodies a disturbing message that wealth and success justify immoral behavior? As a parent, I hope not. It’s essential to distinguish between wealth and true excellence in society. Rather than defending him solely based on his wealth and monetary achievements, he should be given the opportunity to clear his name. Let’s prioritize values over valuables.

Me: Indeed, let’s not celebrate wrong-doing. If the Man of God has done something or anything wrong, let us take him to court and judge him here in his own country, not in a country roaring with lions ready to tear our own flesh and blood immediately he sets foot in their country.

We must, all of us, embrace him, and learn his way of wealth-making and management. He has made wealth outside his country, come home, and he has made wealth in Malawi. After making much wealth, the prophet has turned around and helped the poor, needy, and people needing to be rescued (in South Africa and in Malawi).

Oh God bless our land of Malawi!

“Live within the means and don’t spend money on trivia”-Chakwera dares Malawians

…..OSAMADZIPEPESA DAILY….

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera has urged Malawians to consider investing their hard earned money to change the economic status of their lives.

Chakwera made the remarks on Thursday at Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi Limited (CCBML) Head Office at Kanengo in the City of Lilongwe, where he presided over the launch of a new Coca-Cola Beverages Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) machine.

The President observes that most Malawians waste their money on trivia.

He advised the people to borrow a leaf from Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi Limited and put their money to good use.

Chakwera said a recent Reserve Bank of Malawi report indicated that in the past year, money amounting to MK19 trillion was transferred on mobile phones only using Mpamba and Airtel money platforms, an indication that Malawians have money.

The Malawi leader pleaded with Malawians change their mindset and start saving their hard earned money, to avoid falling prey to some opposition leaders who go about convincing them that he (President Chakwera) is the reason they are poor.

“Let’s not be cheated, many Malawians have money but they lack investment skills. Citizens who care so much about their country, or family would never go about spending their hard earned cash anyhow. Learn to invest your money,” he said.

Minister of Trade and Industry Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba the investment is in accordance with President Chakwera’s Agriculture, Tourism and Mining (ATM) Strategy to help advance industrialization agenda for Malawi.

Mumba said his ministry will not relent to push for necessary reforms until Malawi is able to produce and be self reliant.

Mumba added that the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) line by Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi is a milestone from policy to production.

The minister explained that the move by CCBA has shown confidence in the country’s leadership by the investors.

Chief Executive Officer for Coca-Cola Beverages Africa Sunil Gupta said the US$14.2 million investment will help contribute to the country’s social and economic development while at the same time, offering superior service to the consumers.

Managing Director for Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi Limited Neil French said the new state of the art facility will help increase production levels to 19200 bottles per hour, as well as create new employment opportunities.

Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi Limited (CCBML) is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), the largest Coca-Cola bottler in Africa. CCBA operates in 15 countries, including its six key markets of South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mozambique and Namibia, as well as Tanzania, Botswana, Ghana, Zambia, the islands of Comoros and Mayotte, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Malawi.

Peter Mutharika is being deceived by greedy advisors: A sign of fading leadership

By Lyson Sibande

The official communication from Nkhoma Synod exposing fake reverends that visited Page House paints a very worrying picture about Peter Mutharika’s ability to execute sound judgment.

He was shamefully deceived by his Vice President for the Central Region Alfred Gangata and advisors.

They arranged a meeting for Mutharika to meet with over 40 fake reverends, allegedly, from Nkhoma Synod. Not just one or two, but more than 40 impostors made it to Page House under Mutharika’s watch.

This incident, while unbelievably shocking, portrays the reality of what happens when a leader gets too old to lead. His leadership gets increasingly undermined from within.

Instead of doing the donkey work of taking Mutharika out of Page House to meet and interact with community leaders and potential voters on the ground, which is understandably too difficult for the frail Mutharika, the inner circle has resolved to maintain optics by staging meetings that deceive not only the public but the former president himself.

This situation is characteristic of what happens across the world when political leaders age and begin to lose grip on the reins of power.

History has shown that once a leader crosses into advanced age, mostly beyond 80, they often become vulnerable to manipulation by those closest to them.

Instead of being eased into retirement with dignity, many are forced to remain in power just to be used as figureheads by ambitious younger politicians or family members seeking to rule from behind the curtain.

Malawi is no stranger to such dynamics. When Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda grew old, he was no longer in control of the administration.

Key figures like JZU Tembo and Mama Cecilia Kadzamira were making crucial decisions on his behalf.

During the Mwanza Murders Commission of Inquiry, Kamuzu himself admitted to being unaware of critical actions taken in his name, and he issued a public apology to the nation.

Across the border in Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe’s twilight years saw his wife, Grace Mugabe, amassing political power and influence through her proximity to the presidency.

She manipulated her husband to cling to power for her personal ambitions and interests of her close allies in the G40.

Sadly, the same warning signs are emerging within the DPP. Mutharika is no longer seen actively engaging with the electorate.

Frail and largely homebound, he is unable to conduct whistle-stop tours or interact with local communities in the way a vibrant leader would.

His advisors have opted to create false narratives of engagement to cover up his passiveness.

This raises a pressing question: if Mutharika is being tricked and getting manipulated now, what would happen should these same individuals accidently find themselves in government?

In his best years, Mutharika could have detected that the reverends brought to him were impostors.

Malawians must reflect deeply and ask themselves serious questions.

Mutharika is not the problem because age is a blessing from God.

But incompetent and crooked people surrounding him and manipulating him for their own interests and ambitions are the problem.

Malawi’s youths urged to tap into innovative potential for national development

By Jones Gadama

The Secretary for Youth and Sports, Isaac Katopola, has called on young Malawians to harness their innovative potential to tackle unemployment and drive national development.

Speaking at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum meeting in Lilongwe, Katopola emphasized that youths are crucial in shaping the country’s future.

He highlighted that innovation can help create jobs and adopt technology, aligning with the Malawi 2063 blueprint.

The ECOSOC Youth Forum meeting, held under the theme “Inclusive Youth Economic Empowerment: Leveraging Science, Technology, and Innovation in Malawi,” provided a platform for young people to share their ideas and perspectives on how to drive economic growth and development in the country.

The event brought together key stakeholders, including Rex Chapota, Executive Director of the National Youth Council of Malawi, who praised President Lazarus Chakwera’s youth-inclusive administration.

Chapota specifically commended the president’s implementation of the Youth Innovative Fund, assuring that the youth will embrace innovative ideas to support the administration.

This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering young Malawians and leveraging their potential for national development.

Malawi’s youthful population, with over 80% aged below 35 years, presents a significant opportunity for economic growth and transformation. However, young people often face barriers that hinder their development and contribution to the country’s progress.

To address this, the government, in collaboration with development partners, has launched initiatives aimed at promoting youth entrepreneurship and innovation.

Some notable initiatives include the Zantchito Entrepreneurship and Access to Finance Project, the Jobs for Youth (J4Y) Project, and the University Innovation Pod (UniPod).

These initiatives aim to economically empower young women and men, provide opportunities for entrepreneurship and skills development, and nurture talent to drive national development.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Malawi, Rebecca Adda-Dontoh, emphasized the importance of engaging young people in development planning and leveraging their energy and idealism to inspire creativity and innovation.

The UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2024-2028 prioritizes young people, ensuring that policies and investments in education, skills development, decent jobs, entrepreneurship, and health directly address their needs.

As Malawi strives to achieve its development aspirations outlined in the Malawi 2063 Vision, the role of young people cannot be overstated.

By harnessing their innovative potential and providing support through initiatives like the Youth Innovative Fund, the country can unlock its economic potential and improve the lives of its citizens.

The call to action by Secretary Katopola serves as a reminder of the critical role young Malawians play in shaping the country’s future.

By leveraging science, technology, and innovation, Malawi can unlock its economic potential and achieve its development goals.

As the country moves forward, it is essential to prioritize youth empowerment and provide support for initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth.

Court snubs embattled DPP Veep Alfred Gangata’s charges discharge plea in forgery case

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Magistrate Court in Lilongwe on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 threw out embattled Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Central Region Vice president Alfred Gangata’s request to dismiss some of the charges on forgery case.

Gangata’s lawyers wanted the court to dismiss some of the charges he is facing.

The embattled DPP is charged with falsifying tax records, forgery, uttering false documents from the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) and concluding a transaction without a tax clearance certificate.

Delivering his ruling, Principal Resident Magistrate Benjamin Chulu said the charges are still relevant and the court will proceed with the trial.

Gangata, through his lawyer, wanted the court to drop some of the counts on the charge sheet, arguing that they are old.

Gangata’s lawyer, Zwelethini Chipembere said he cannot comment much about the ruling.

State Prosecutor Watson Chirwa said the State is ready to continue with the trial on the set date of commencement.

The case has since been adjourned to May 23, 2025.

Gangata is also answering charges on holding fake Malawi
