Chakwera endorses One Love Malawi Parade, donates MK10m

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-In the spirit of fostering unity and togetherness, President Lazarus Chakwera on Monday afternoon, May 26, 2025 met in audience representatives of One Love Malawi – a grouping that has organized a peaceful parade against political violence.

This was on the sidelines of the 2nd Malawi Business and Applied Science (MUBAS) Congregation in Blantyre, as the country draws closer to September 16th general elections.

Held under the theme: “It’s Possible to Coexist in Diversity,” the event seeks to celebrate diversity while fostering a spirit of togetherness as the country approaches the forthcoming September 16th general elections.

In his remarks, Chakwera hailed the grouping for coming up with the initiative saying the move will help in ensuring a peaceful general elections as Malawians exercise their right to vote.

“With this parade and initiative you are preaching peace,” said President Chakwera. “I am happy and I am endorsing this parade, as it will help preach peace and co-existence during this campaign period”

President Chakwera therefore donated MK10 million to cover logistics in preparation for the event.

The parade which takes place on Tuesday 27th May, 2025 will start from Clock Tower Petroda Filling Station through Blantyre CBD to Nyambadwe School Ground via Magalasi road.

To spice up the event, the grouping has also organized live performances by the Black Missionaries, Lambanie Dube, Sam Smack, Paul Subiri and Alleluya Band, am several others.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee Ras Elijah Leonard Phekani said the event will also feature inspiration speakers from various sectors of the Malawi society.
