LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The UTM leader Dr Dalitso Kabambe has once again dared President Lazarus Chakwera to take responsibility for ailing economy by taking decisive action to address the challenge.

The former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dr Kabambe told Chakwera to stop blaming past regimes on current economic challenges.

Writing on his Facebook page on January 31, 2024, the UTM leader says it’s high time for Chakwera gets practical solutions before the economy collapses beyond repair.

“The Chakwera government must take responsibility for our struggling economy. No amount of blaming the opposition can fix the pain and suffering Malawians are going through.

“We see the luxury, arrogance, and disregard from those in power while ordinary people are suffering. This government has failed us,” reads the post in part.

Dr Kabambe adds, “Their actions don’t inspire confidence that they can solve our problems. The economic fundamentals are broken, and there’s a serious lack of financial wisdom. This so-called turnaround strategy is just a painful exercise with no real solutions.

“It’s time for us, the people, to take charge of our destiny. We need to elect leaders who truly care about the well-being of Malawians. Only then can we escape this misery. God bless Malawi”.

UTM leader Dr Kabambe calls come amid worsening economic challenges under Chakwera’s administration including high inflation, cost of living, fuel, food and forex crisises.

Due to economic mismanagement, World Bank has expressed disappointment over Chakwera regime.
