ZOMBA (Maravi Post)—Following the illegal demonstrations Chancellor College Students staged which led to the closure of their college; the authorities at the college have leveled different charges against the defiant Student Union Leaders.Maravi Post has learnt that the Chanco authorities have been inviting Students leaders to appear before the disciplinary committee of the college to answer different charges.

Today, a group of the Union leaders were set to appear before the committee but in a twist of events, the Chanco Students Union Leader, Sylvester James Ayuba went to Court to obtain an injunction restraining the College Authorities from proceeding with the hearing.

Ayuba defiantly wrote on his facebook page:

“Safely in Zomba, having traveled overnight from Nkhotakota. Waiting to be judged by the kangaroo court of the Chanco disciplinary committee. “

Ayuba said that the charges leveled against him ranges from interference with the proper governance of the university to mobilization of an unlawful assembly in defiance of the order of the Principal not to have SUCC hold its General Assembly.

“The verdict is already printed, kept safely in someone’s laptop bag, we all know. But I scream ‘No’ to intimidation… Education for ALL! Long live the struggle!” wrote Ayuba.

Few minutes ago, the fearless leader, a law student himself, announced that he had secured an injunction at the Zomba High Court to gag the Chanco Authorities from proceeding with the hearing.

“Injunction obtained, restraining Chancellor College administration, through its disciplinary committee, from proceeding with disciplinary procedures against Students Union of Chancellor College Executive members, until determination of certain issues by the Court.

“We thank everyone for your enduring support…

“The struggle lives on…” wrote James.
