BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Football Players Association of Malawi (FPA) has received a significant boost in its quest for registration as a member of the World Union of Players, FIFPro.
Desmond Maringwa, FIFPro Africa board member and President of the Zimbabwe Union of Players visited the FPA to assess its preparedness and provide guidance.
During his visit, Maringwa met with FPA officials and discussed the association’s progress and challenges.
Maringwa expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the FPA so far but also highlighted areas that need improvement.
He noted that the FPA has shown potential and is moving in the right direction, but there are certain requirements that need to be met to achieve affiliation with FIFPro.
Maringwa’s assessment is crucial in determining the FPA’s readiness to join the global players’ union.
The FIFPro Africa board member made several recommendations to the FPA to fulfill within the next year.

Before meeting with the FPA, Maringwa also met with FAM’s General Secretary Alfred Gunda at the Football Association of Malawi offices. The meeting provided an opportunity for both organizations to discuss their respective roles and how they can work together to support Malawian football.
Maringwa’s visit concluded with a meeting with Board Members of Football Legends Association of Malawi at Malawi Sun Hotel in Blantyre. The meeting was an opportunity for the different stakeholders to pledge their support for the FPA and work together to achieve their objectives.
