MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-As the common cliché that says send a thief to catch a thief predicted, it is now revealed that the country’s rights body Human Rights Defenders Coalition ( HRDC ) has one committee member whose intentions for the very organisation are evil.
According to an audio clip, that was produced by Charles Ben Longwe, a top member of the same, and has gone vile on the social media, Solomon Phiri, a Southern Region HRDC Chairperson, is the snake that will soon bite the whole HRDC to death.
In the audio clip, Charles Ben Longwe is heard as saying Solomon Phiri on Friday went to Sanjika Palace in Blantyre where he met the President, Arthur Peter Mutharika and discussed with him on the prospects of weakening and defeating the leadership of HRDC.
The clip further challenges and warns Solomon Phiri and the President that no matter how hard they try to usurp HRDC, they will not accomplish their evil plans as HRDC is protected by the will of God.
However, in his reaction to the audio clip, Solomon Phiri has distanced himself from the allegations leveled against him and has challenged HRDC to institute an immediate investigation to uncover the truth behind the speculations.
Phiri has also stated that at the meantime, he will privately be taking necessary steps against Charles Ben Longwe for publishing allegations that have caused him and his immediate family a great distress and endangered his life.
Last week, HRDC Chairperson, Timothy Mtambo, wrote the Inspector General of the Malawi Police Service, Duncan Mwapasa, informing him of the threats that are being directed at him by some unspecified mercenaries.
