BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) Executive Committee has embarked on a crucial two-day strategic meeting that could shape the future direction of netball development in the country.
Held at the Malawi National Council of Sports Board Room on Saturday, the high-level gathering has drawn Executive Committee members and Secretariat officials led by NAM President Vitumbiko Gubuduza and General Secretary Yamikani Kauma.
Behind closed doors, delegates are tackling pressing governance, operational and developmental issues as the Association seeks to reposition itself for a demanding 2026 calendar.
Sources from the meeting indicate that Day One centered on intense deliberations surrounding unresolved matters from previous engagements, financial policy reforms, preparations for the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and district election plans in areas yet to hold polls.
The Executive Committee also turned its attention to policy reviews and redefining the roles and expectations of committee members.
Attention now shifts to Day Two, where discussions are expected to focus on the ongoing constitution review process and strategic partnerships viewed as critical to the sport’s sustainability.
Key sponsors and partners, including Mukuru, FDH Bank and NICO Holdings, are expected to feature prominently in conversations around long-term planning and resource mobilisation.
The meeting will also address audit planning for the 2025/2026 period before agreeing on immediate action points aimed at strengthening the Association’s structures and operations.
As Malawi netball continues to grow in profile and expectations rise, the outcome of this strategic retreat could prove decisive in determining how the Association navigates governance, competitiveness and sustainability in the years ahead.
NAM says the engagement underscores its commitment to building a stronger and more effective institution capable of creating opportunities for athletes, coaches, officials and stakeholders across the country.
