BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, popularly known as “Major 1”by his followers, must be the happy person as his Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) continues registering success in wooing people to the church with prominent musician Lucius Banda being the latest big catch.
Lucius, who has of late been at loggerheads with the top authorities of the Roman Catholic Church in Balaka due to his dual affiliation to both Catholic Church and ECG, has come in the open accusing the catholic priests of portraying devilish acts by denying him a chance to attend prayers at ECG.
Posting on his official Facebook account, Lucius Banda questioned the rationale of the Catholic priests failing to accommodate his hunger for religious variety.
“Only the devil shall question your presence in the house of the Lord and not your presence at Chez-Ntemba. But devil you are a liar!” Banda is quoted as saying.
Chez Ntemba is a popular night clubbing joint with outlets in Blantyre and Lilongwe. Sources at the Bishop quarters in Balaka say what Lucious is doing is against the rules and regulations of the church.
They say communication has been made by the Parishioners to Lucius advising him to declare his affiliation openly so that he is deprived of any sacraments as per Catholic guidelines.
But it is clear that the musician has made his mind to follow Prophet Bushiri.
Soldier, as he is affectionately known among music fans, has been splashing pictures on social media confirming his frequent patronage to the ECG church services in South Africa.
ECG has taken Malawi’s religious landscape by storm with some prominent Malawians trekking down South in search of quick fortunes dubbed ‘Miracle Money’ Some prominent faces attending services frequently at ECG include former cabinet ministers Ralph Kasambara and Brown Mpinganjira.
