Malawi national team coach

has appealed to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to arrange international friendly matches on FIFA sanctioned dates.
According to the Belgian tactician, the move will bring about cohesion within the team, ahead of the next AFCON match against Morocco.
The flames were booted out of the ongoing Cosafa cup in the group stages with 2 draws and no goal scored in 3 outings in a tournament to forget.
“I have talked to the FAM President and he agreed with me that there is need to arrange friendly games to test ourselves and build a good understanding among players” he said.
He said if they play on FIFA dates, foreign clubs will have no choice but to release their players unlike what happened when clubs refused to release their players for the cosafa cup as the competition did not fall under the FIFA calendar.
“It is vital that our foreign based players link up as possible with our local players so we can build a strong national team to be proud of but we need to play often to realize our potential as a team” he added.
