LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In a daring undercover operation, Malawi Police Service officers foiled a robbery attempt at Mbowe Puma Filling Station ATM on January 10, 2026, arresting a suspect who had been targeting unsuspecting citizens in the area.
Dressed in Arsenal jerseys to blend in, two police officers set a trap for the robbers, who had been terrorizing people around City Mall, Crossroads, and Mbowe.
One officer pretended to withdraw cash from the ATM, while his colleague kept watch.
As the suspect, armed with a knife, approached the officer, the second officer intervened, shooting the suspect in the leg and overpowering him.

The operation aimed to flush out criminals targeting ATM users, and the police are commended for their bravery.
This comes after reports of people being robbed immediately after withdrawing cash from the Mbowe ATM.
