Malawi’s Children care cantre Nthambi graduates first cohort: Appeals for support

Nthambi graduate certified to primary school

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-One of the country’s Day Care and Orphanage organisation called Nthambi on Saturday, January 9, 2020 graduated its first cohort of pupils to be enrolled into primary school since its inception in 2019.

About 30 pupils have been awarded certificates of being qualified for primary school.

The graduates were also given food rations, glossaries and bed sheets as a start up that coupled with a luncheon at its campus, Chigwirizano, in the capital Lilongwe.

The pupils have been at the centre for a year groomed on speaking and writing skills, social behaviours, spiritual life for responsible future citizens.

“I’m very glad to witness my granddaughter graduating to primary school while well equipped on various social life aspects. Nthambi care centre has a future for communities,” lauds Nelles Kamkukuza, one of the guardians.

Nthambi’s Executive Director John Kondowe expressed gratitude over the first cohorts graduation saying the centre’s vision has started bearing fruits.

Kondowe is optimistic that graduates will be foundation of great future for the communities surrounding the centre.

He however appealed for financial and technical support for the development of the institution to a full boarding facility.

“What started as small now has come into a big thing of grooming vibrant generation. We will continue to enroll more kids for better future through Nthambi.

“However, we need financial and technical support to develop the institution fully to a boarding facility. Currently, there is no local partners in our programming as funds sourced arent enough to achieve the centre’s dreams,” urges Kondowe.

Nthambi’s board of trustee a Mrs Mbukwa says the facility has brought a big impact to early childhood development in the area. the nation as it grows.

Mbukwa appeals also to well-wishers to support the the school that it continues to sharpen children spiritually that they grow up as responsible citizen with well mannered.

Last month, Deputy Minister of Defence Jean Sendeza who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Lilongwe South West Constituency officially opened the facility.

Nthambi was established to help orphans and vulnerable children to access education, food, shelter, medical care, clothing among others.

It’s located at Chigwirizano Trading Centre, about 9 km from Lilongwe old Town under Village Headman Mwananga, Traditional Authority (T.A) Malili in Lilongwe district
