Malawi’s Nkhatabay Senior Chief M’bwana succumbs to Covid-19

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Senior Chief M’bwana of Nkhata-Bay District has died of the current global pandemic of Covid-19.

According to a press statement that the Ministry of Local Government released on July 22, 2020, Senior Chief M’bwana, whose real name was Francis Nyirenda, died yesterday afternoon at his home in Usisya.

The statement, which has been signed by the Chief Secretary in the ministry, Charles Kalemba, further says Senior Chief Kalemba, will be laid to rest on July 23, 2020.

Senior Chief M’bwana, who was installed Traditional Authority M’bwana in 2009, got elevated to level at which he dies on May 28, 2011.

Until his death, Senior Chief M’bwana had six children and four grandchildren.

Over 3 thousand Malawians have tested positive for Covid-19 and 76 people have died of the same.
