LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Senior Resident Magistrate Patrick Chirwa on Monday, December 13, 2021 granted bail to former cabinet minister Ben Phiri.
Phiri has been ordered to pay a MK10, million cash bond and produce two people as surety at MK5, million.
The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Thyolo Central lawmaker has also been asked to surrender all his traveling documents and report to police after every two weeks.
In the ruling, the court has indicated that the state has failed to demonstrate how the accused will tamper with witnesses as explained by the state.
