BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police Service in Mangochi are hunting for the individuals responsible for the brutal murder of 5-year-old Brian Alabi.

Speaking with MaraviPost Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer Amina Tepani Daudi, says the young boy’s body was discovered buried in a garden near his home in Mkwesa Village, Traditional Authority Bwananyambi.

Daudi added that Brian was left playing with other children while his mother and neighbors were tending to their vegetable gardens.

When Brian’s mother, Latifa Bilutoni, returned home, he was nowhere to be found.

A search party was organized, with the help of village elders and community members, but initial efforts proved futile.

It was not until the next morning that Brian’s body was discovered.

A dog was seen barking and digging in a nearby garden, leading villagers to investigate further.

Upon closer inspection, human fingers were seen protruding from the soil, and the body was later confirmed to be that of Brian.

The police were quick to respond, and officers from Chiponde Police Unit, accompanied by a clinical officer from Chiponde Health Centre, rushed to the scene.

The body was exhumed, and multiple injuries were observed, including a tightly tied cloth around the neck, punctured eyes, and bleeding from the nose and mouth.

A postmortem examination revealed that Brian died from strangulation, secondary to a twisted neck and head injuries.

The police have launched a manhunt and are appealing to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.
