BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Struggling Mighty Be Forward Wanderers can now have colourful dreams to compete well in the ongoing TNM Super League as experienced defender Harry Nyirenda is expected to join the defending Carlsberg Cup champions after his contract with the South African side Black Leopards expired.Nyirenda started training with Wanderers on Tuesday after agreeing terms with the club according to reports.
In an interview with the local media, Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao could not deny nor accept the news but said official announcement will be communicated soon.
“Yes we have been in discussion with the player. He is our son and he is free to return home if no deal materialises in South Africa where he has been for the past six years or so. However we ask for patience until we announce the official news regarding the player,” said Butao.
Nyirenda came to the limelight in the mid 2000 after impressing for Blue Eagles before Wanderers signed him.
He played for Wanderers for a few years before signing for Black Leopards. He has been a regular for the Malawi national team since then.
Wanderers started the league at a low note, conceding embarrassing defeats, a development which led to the sacking of the then mentor Jack Chamangwana who is currently working as a technical director.
