MCP accused of interfering with electoral process as 2025 elections loom

By Twink Jones Gadama

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has been accused of attempting to influence the electoral process ahead of the 2025 elections.

According to sources, the MCP has been trying to manipulate the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to favor their party.

This has raised concerns among opposition parties, particularly the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), which has called for external auditors to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

In an interview with News Updater, Jessie Kabwila, a prominent MCP member, defended her party’s actions, stating that anyone can contest the elections and that the MCP is not afraid of competition.

However, Kabwila’s statement was met with skepticism by DPP supporters, who claim that the MCP is trying to rig the system.

The DPP has been critical of the MCP’s handling of the economy, citing rising inflation and unemployment rates.

The party believes that the MCP’s failures will ultimately lead to their downfall in the 2025 elections.

Analysts predict that the 2025 elections will be a closely contested race between the MCP and DPP.

The MCP’s leadership has been marred by controversy, with some critics accusing President Lazarus Chakwera of failing to deliver on his campaign promises.

Despite these challenges, Kabwila remains optimistic about the MCP’s chances, stating that “anyone can contest, but it’s the ground that will determine who wins.

However, the DPP is confident that their sound economic policies will resonate with voters.

The 2025 elections will be a crucial test for Malawi’s democracy.

As the country prepares for the polls, concerns about electoral integrity and manipulation remain paramount.

The MEC must ensure that the electoral process is free and fair to maintain public trust.

Key Issues Leading Up to the 2025 Elections:

As Malawi heads to the polls in 2025, the nation remains divided. One thing is certain – the outcome of the elections will shape the country’s future.

APM ready to handover, support the DPP next torchbearer

FORMER PRESIDENT PROFESSOR ARTHUR PETER MUTHARIKA

Addressing his supporters in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and beyond, Former Malawi President Peter Mutharika who is enjoying his days in Mangochi wrote the following:

Good morning Malawians and all the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supporters across the world.

This is to let you know that I had an audience with DPP leadership from the Eastern region, parliamentarians from the region as well as some members of the NGC on Wednesday led by Dr. Bright Msaka, SC who is the President for the DPP in Eastern region at my Villas in Mangochi.

I have good news to you all the DPP followers, I will never leave you and I will always fight with you till the end.

Come next election, DPP will be bouncing back in government and I will render all my support to make sure this is achieved as we did between 2012 to 2014.

Malawians have already seen that their much-touted change has not brought them the change they were looking for.

I therefore call upon all DPP supporters to remain strong and vigilant, united, and principled so that we achieve this together.

May God protect you all from Covid-19.

Stay home and stay safe so that we make the history again together.

DPP supporters believe Malawians Will once again deliver real Justice for APM

Malawi opposition parties and their fellow conspirators in courts and CSO’s are busy harassing MEC commissioners.

The MEC commissioners are being crucified by a grand conspiracy who want to grab power through the backdoor.

DPP supporters believe, the commissioners are being abused by a bunch of failures who always want to blame others for their perennial failure.

They believe opposition and the courts have failed to find that the irregularities affected the election result.

They have tried all they could, and they have failed to prove it.

They say and believe that, the commissioners did not make anyone win or lose the election. It is Malawian voters who did.

They believe most Malawians will vote for APM again, this time in large numbers to shame the opposition who they call the devil.

They implore Malawians are not fooled they know, APM won the elections. They claim opposition knows and agree with this fact.

They point to the fact that social media is full of figures and percentages of the results of the nullified elections.

This means that if people are adding 20% of Chilima and 35% of Chakwera to make 55% and 38% of APM and 4% of Atupele to make 42% this clearly show that the opposition are conceding APM won such that the figures are correct.

You cannot be using figures which were rejected as false and nullified and convince yourself that you will win the fresh elections yet were not true figures.

Let us agree that APM and DPP are being robed their victory via a judicial coup.

Malawians of good will let us stand and show them that they cannot fault and insult our intelligence with their jealousy by voting the DPP/UDF alliance on 2 July.
