We wish you a happy and healthy 2024. for Malawians 2023 was an exceedingly difficult year. Cyclone Freddy dropped six months of rainfall in six days, triggering floods and mudslides that killed more than 1,200 people in Malawi. Cyclone Freddy lasted a record 38 days.
However, in the misery of the cyclone Malawians both at home and in the Diaspora got together to support those affected.
The Malawi economy was in a free fall. the kwacha was devalued 44%. The ruling party did not fare well either. They made a lot of promises to gain power and failed to deliver on their promises.
The Maravi Post saw tremendous growth in readership both in Malawi and over 180 countries. Our reporters should be proud of their work in 2023.
As we are getting ready to start Year 2024. We pray that our leaders will improve and work on Making Malawi a better and prosperous country where all can benefit.
We are very hopeful as we enter 2024.
