MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s Ministry of Health and Population on Monday, April 26, announced the first Covid-19 case in the northern region.
This means the country has 34 cases with three deaths.
Health Minster Jappie Mhango told the news conference at Mzuzu Central Hospital that latest patient is a 27 year old man from Karonga. He returned from Tanzanian where he was residing.
Mhanga said upon arrival the patient went into self quarantine upon advice.
However, after six days he developed some signs including cough, severe headache among others.

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Government says is committed to continued provision of availability of essential medicines/ drugs in all public and health facilities in the country
Minister responsible for Health and Population Jappie Mhango said this when visited Mzuzu Central Medical stores on Friday.
He explains that govt is impressed with the availability of drugs which is currently at 76% from 5 % since 2013.
Mhango assured people in the country that pharmaceutical reserves have enough drugs to reach out to all government and private hospitals
“I am impressed with the current stock levels hence the need to put a number of interventions to reach the targeted 100 percent as well as recapitalise CMST,” stressed Mhango.
He further adds that government is at advanced stage to introduce end to end trading system which enables to truck the supplier to the end user saying this would ensure proper use of drugs at the grass root level
Mhango revealed that the trucking system would help to reduce drug theft in the country.
