Through its “Vocation Makers” programme, Thales is actively engaging with young people ages 6 to 18 to spark their interest in science and technology. In parallel, Thales has launched the STEM for All’s programme, a scholarship and mentorship initiative in partnership with the French Academy of Technologies. The programme is designed to support and inspire young students from disadvantaged backgrounds who aspire to pursue careers in STEM. In its inaugural year, 40 awards were given in France and Belgium, each including a €5,000 grant and one-year of mentorship from a Thales employee. In 2026, STEM for All will be expanded in 2026 to countries including the Czech Republic, Poland, Greece, Romania, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil and South Korea.

“We take great pride in seeing Thales’ appeal grow stronger year after year. The talented individuals who join us are driven by a desire to contribute to the development of sovereign, innovative, and sustainable solutions that the world needs more than ever. Together, we shaping the future by inspiring an increasing number of young people, especially young women, to pursue careers in science and technology.”

Thales supports the Qatar Emiri Air Force in strengthening its air protection with the GM400α and the GM200MM/A radars air surveillance system

  • Qatar has ordered GM200MM/A (Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission All-in-one) and GM400α (Ground Master Alpha) radars from Thales to enhance its airspace protection capabilities.
  • In addition to the radars, a national supervision and maintenance system will be delivered, as well as a training programme for operators and technicians.
  • Renowned for their reliability and efficiency, the Thales GM400α and GM200MM/A radars play an indispensable role in aerial surveillance and sovereignty around the world.
  • Thales has been a trusted partner of the State of Qatar for over 40 years, and supports the local economy and the country’s sovereignty through digital technologies in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Signature during DIMDEX 2026

DOHA, Qatar, 28 January 2026-/African Media Agency(AMA)/-At the DIMDEX Exhibition in Doha, the Qatar Emiri Air Force signed an order for Ground Master 200 MM/A radars and Ground Master 400 Alpha radars, intended to strengthen the country’s airspace sovereignty.

The evolution of threats and conflicts in the airspace, particularly related to recent drone incursions, makes it essential for armed forces to have accurate and effective detection capabilities at all times means to process and take benefit of these new information and integrate the result into their national legacy systems. To address these critical issues, countries such as Qatar are increasingly investing in high-performance radars.

Easily deployable, Thales radars are essential assets for long-range and medium-range detection of all types of threats, regardless of the environment. The GM200 MM/A is an advanced aerial multi-mission radar, with outstanding performances on small targets, up to a distance of 350km. The GM400α offers superior situational awareness, with an unmatched tracking ability from low, slow, small to highly maneuvering threats, even in a dense clutter.

GM200 MM/A ©Thales

Benefiting from a Secure Digital Integration Platform (SDIP), a true force multiplier, the GM200 MM/A and GM400α radars provide an outstanding air picture with unequalled performance on difficult targets. This architecture also enables the preservation of a high-quality air picture with instant broadcasting, thanks to Secure network capabilities. The SDIP solution will allow the user to subsequently integrate all existing non-US sensors into a single Air Picture.

In addition to the radars, the Qatar Emiri Air Force will benefit from an experienced Thales local team which will be responsible for maintenance and operator training on a daily basis until 2036. With more than 200 Ground Master family radars sold worldwide, Thales proves once again that this solution is widely recognised for its performance and high level of reliability.

“We are proud to contribute to Qatar’s airspace sovereignty with our integrated air surveillance system based on our advanced medium and long-range tactical radars. The GM200 MM/A and the GM400α will support the Qatar Emiri Air Force in maintaining sovereignty and protecting their airspace against drones and other threats. This contract further demonstrates the enduring partnership between Thales and Qatar.”
Raphael Desi, Vice-President Integrated Airspace-protection Systems activities Thales.

5 Best Prime Video Movies to Watch on New Year’s Eve: ‘The Naked Gun’ and More

Amazon’s Prime Video may not be the No. 1 streaming service, but it has something no other streamer can offer on New Year’s Eve.

Several of this year’s top hits from Warner Bros. Pictures, Paramount and Universal Pictures are all included with your Prime Video subscription.

As 2026 approaches, Watch With Us has narrowed our selections down to the five best Prime Video movies to watch on New Year’s Eve.

Our picks include an outstanding horror flick, an off-the-wall comedy, a tense thriller and more.

26 Must-Watch Movies on Prime Video Right Now (December 2025)

‘Sinners’ (2025)

Vampire movies aren’t often in the Oscar conversation about the Best Picture of the year, but Ryan Coogler‘s Sinners just might get a nomination from the Academy Awards. This original horror film took audiences by storm earlier this year with two great performances by Michael B. Jordan as the Smokestack twins, Elijah “Smoke” Moore and Elias “Stack” Moore. The twins have been gangsters and soldiers, but none of that prepared them for the children of the night.

After the twins fulfill their dream of opening a juke joint in their hometown, their crowd is preyed upon by vampires. Just one bite can turn even their most loyal friends into deadly blood suckers. One of the first to fall is Stack’s ex-girlfriend, Mary (Hailee Steinfeld). She won’t be the last, and there may not be anyone living left by the time the sun rises again.

Sinners is streaming on Prime Video.

‘The Naked Gun’ (2025)

Believe it or not, there is a plot in The Naked Gun, a legacy sequel to the incredibly hilarious movies of the ’80s and early ’90s. But it’s largely in service of Liam Neeson following in the footsteps of the late Leslie Nielsen with deadpan humor that’s even funnier coming from such a dramatic actor.

Liam Neeson Gives Pamela Anderson a Forehead Kiss in ‘Naked Gun’ Promo

Neeson plays Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Nielsen’s character from the original trilogy. Frank’s a little more competent at catching bad guys than his father, but the chaos he leaves in his wake is a family tradition. Pamela Anderson costars as Beth Davenport, a woman whose brother’s death is ruled a suicide. Romantic sparks fly as Frank and Beth investigate, which has even led to reports that Neeson and Anderson were dating in real life.

The Naked Gun is streaming on Prime Video.

‘Drop’ (2025)

Speaking of dating, Violet (Meghann Fahy) picked the absolute worst time to get back into the dating pool in the thriller Drop. Violet’s son, Toby (Jacob Robinson), and her sister, Jen (Violett Beane), encouraged her to go out on her first date since the death of her husband. She even seemed to hit the jackpot with Henry (Brandon Sklenar).

But in thrillers, there’s always another shoe to drop, and this is it: Someone has targeted Violet for blackmail and taken her son and her sister hostage. Violet doesn’t know who’s doing this to her, but one thing is made perfectly clear. If she doesn’t kill her dinner date, then she’ll never see her family alive again.

Drop is streaming on Prime Video.

TikTok Star Jacob Robinson, 6, Adorably Recalls His Audition for New Movie

‘The Ballad of Wallis Island’ (2025)

Everyone’s heard of rom-coms, but The Ballad of Wallis Island is basically a rom-dramedy and the quirkiest selection on this list. Tim Key stars as Charles Heath, a two-time lottery winner who is now a very wealthy man. Charles could do almost anything with his money, but all he really wants is to reunite his late wife’s favorite folk duo, McGwyer Mortimer.

Getting the estranged former lovers/partners, Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden) and Nell Mortimer (Carey Mulligan), to agree to a private show was the easy part. Keeping them together long enough to actually perform is the real challenge, especially since Nell has moved on and married another man named Michael (Akemnji Ndifornyen). Even the beautiful music of McGwyer Mortimer may not be enough to overcome their hurt feelings.

The Ballad of Wallis Island is streaming on Prime Video.

‘Mickey 17’ (2025)

Is a fresh start in life worth dying for? It is for Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) in Mickey 17, the first film by director Bong Joon Ho since his multiple Oscar wins for Parasite. Mickey was so desperate to escape Earth that he took a job on a space expedition to a new colony that gave him the most dangerous assignments, often at the cost of his own life.

2025’s Best Sci-Fi Movie Is Coming Home— Find Out When and Where

Every time Mickey dies, he’s simply cloned again and resumes his place among the crew. Mickey 17 is the clone that doesn’t die, and that causes all sorts of problems, especially for Mickey 18. There are very strict rules about having more than one clone running around on this world, and that may doom both of the surviving Mickeys if the truth about 17’s survival is revealed.

Mickey 17 is streaming on Prime Video.

Offset Seemingly Shades Ex Cardi B on Surprise New Album: ‘Get Some Help’

Offset dropped a surprise new album on Halloween — and it included an apparent shout-out to his estranged wife, Cardi B, and her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs.

The former Migos rapper, 33, seemingly took aim at Cardi, 33, and Diggs, 31, on “No Sweat” from Haunted by Fame, which he released on Friday, October 31. The possible shade comes in the verse when Offset raps, “How the f*** you leave Jordan for Rodman? / You a fool if you think that I’m hurt.”

After the reference to former Chicago Bulls players Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman (with Offset as the Jordan in this scenario), the rapper seemingly directs words just to Cardi.

“You ain’t happy, I know how it work / How you married and still givin’ birth?” the lyrics read. “Get some help, bitch, you goin’ berserk.”

Offset Regrets ‘Stepping Out’ on Cardi B: ‘Should Have Respected Her’

While Cardi filed for divorce from Offset in July 2024, the estranged couple haven’t finalized their split. Last month, she claimed her ex is the reason the divorce is still in process, alleging that Offset wants her to pay his tax debts.

“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” she claimed in a September chat on X Spaces. “Y’all wanna know the tea The only way I can get out of my marriage is if I pay for somebody else’s taxes, even though I pay for my own, and give them one of my properties. I’m fighting for that, I’m gonna fight for that. This is not no love s***.”

She also addressed the fact that she’s currently expecting a baby with Diggs, to whom she was first linked in October 2024. Cardi confirmed last month she is pregnant with her fourth child, her first with Diggs. She and Offset share three kids: daughters Kulture, 7, and Blossom, 13 months, and son Wave, 4.

“Yes, I’m having a baby with somebody else. So what? That happens. It’s life,” Cardi continued in the X chat. “Let me tell you something, I did things the correct way the first time. I fell in love. I got two rings on my finger. I lasted seven years. … Stop saying, ‘Oh, but you’re still married.’ No, I’m legally separated.”

In a second song on Haunted by Fame, Offset appears to throw additional barbs at Cardi, rapping about a woman who he claims only gets attention because of her association with him.

“I know these n****s only wanna f*** you ’cause I f*** with you,” he raps on the chorus. “Please don’t think that this about you / Hate to be the one to bring you bad news.”

He continues in the verse, “No regrets, though / I taught you everything that you know / You not makin’ decisions, I’m still in control / Only reason these n****s f*** with you ’cause you were my ho / How does it feel?”

Cardi, for her part, addressed her split from Offset on the track “Man of Your Word” from her latest album, Am I the Drama, which dropped last month. When asked about the song during an interview with CBS Mornings, the Grammy winner replied, “I just wish he was a better person. But it is what it is. Be a better person for your kids.”

How SAP and UNICEF Help Tackle Global Youth Unemployment

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, September 26th, 2025-/African Media Agency(AMA)/- Nearly 90 per cent of 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 24 are in low-and middle-income countries, and an estimated 22 percent do not have jobs and are not in education or training. In sub-Saharan Africa specifically, 21.9 percent of young people fall into this category.

The digital skills divide between young people and employers is a big challenge and contributes to a high youth unemployment rate, particularly in the Global South. The SAP Educate to Employ initiative is a digital pathway which aims to address this challenge and enable young people’s skills for a digital economy. Set-up in Youth Agency Marketplace (YOMA), a public-private-youth ecosystem from UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited, the initiative connects young people with real opportunities for learning and work.

Globally, young people are three times more likely to be unemployed than adults. In South Africa, this reality hits home for 27-year-old Edmond Shange, who—like many of his peers—continues to struggle to find work despite finishing high school.

Printing CVs and travelling to hand them in costs money – a resource South Africa’s unemployed youth can barely afford. Yet, according to Edmond, as many as 300 young people often line up at a single employer to submit their applications. “I faced a lot of challenges trying to apply for jobs,” he says. “It’s very tough for young people like me.” His experience reflects a broader crisis. “In Africa, over 70% of the population are young people, and another four million enter the job market every year, competing for fewer than half a million new jobs,” notes Nadi Albino, Deputy Director at UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited.

Internationally, 65 per cent of teenagers lack the digital skills required for 90 per cent of today’s jobs. The fast-changing global economy demands increasingly specialised expertise, but many young people are not learning the skills they need to secure these opportunities.

The search for virtual upskilling led Edmond to the Youth Agency Marketplace (YOMA), a public-private-youth ecosystem supported by UNICEF’s Generational Unlimited, which offers opportunities for young people to learn, earn, and create impact. It was during his pathway to employment where Edmond was first introduced to SAP Educate to Employ, an SAP initiative delivered to YOMA through the implementing partner, Umuzi. His curriculum comprised of 700 hours of targeted training focused on building soft skills and technical expertise.

After completing the course, Edmond says he feels much more confident with his skills. As a result, he has recently secured an internship as a software developer at a startup gaming company based at Wits University Tshimologong Precinct.

Whether young people are educated, trained or employed has significant implications for their overall well-being and ability to promote future economic growth, development and sociopolitical stability. Unfortunately, most traditional education systems do not address the emerging youth digital skills gap.

This realisation was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the initiative. “SAP Educate to Employ was created to support young people who are neither in education nor employment, providing them with training, certification, and guidance to access roles within our ecosystem,” explains Eugene Ho who leads SAP’s global CSR flagship skilling programs targeted at youths in need.

“Through a multilayered curriculum, the initiative has successfully helped candidates with high-school qualifications,” he says. “The initiative provides young people with the tools, the skills, and the resources that they need to secure employment or to employ”, adds Nadi Albino in an SAP News interview.
