Malawi’s legendary football star Jack Chamangwana died earlier today at Malawi Queens Hospital in Blantyre according to information reaching the MaraviPost.

Jack Chamangwana wore the number 5 jersey for Malawi’s local Premier League team Mighty Wanderers with distinction and wore the same for the Malawi National team known as the Flames.

During his time he saw many successes with his local club competing against Bata Bullets legend Kinnah Phiri. As premier defender the Malawi National Flames saw much success in the East African Challenge cup.

He continued to coach both the Malawi National team and also his local club Mighty Wanderers.

Jack Chamangwana   was until his death Technical Director for Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—The embattled executive committee of Mighty Be Forward Wanderers has responded swiftly to the demands of the supporters by hiring veteran coach Eddington Ng’onamo to replace the downgraded Jack Chamangwana.

Wanderers fired Chamangwana on Monday following a series of poor results in their first five games in the TNM Super League.

Nomads announced the appointment of the former Flames coach on Tuesday at a news conference held at the club’s offices in Blantyre.

The club, through team manager Steve Madeira, also took time to extend an apology to their supporters for the team’s poor run.

“We have raised our hands to say sorry to our supporters due to embarrassing performance of the club. It is unfortunate that the team is not doing well when we have very good players than any team,” said Madeira.

He then urged supporters to continue trusting the club, promising that good results will eventually coming along with the change of technical panel.

“What I can say is that we have noted technical problems and they have been sorted out. Supporters should continue to come in large numbers to cheer their team during football games,” he said.

Ng’onamo will be assisted by Elia Kananji as Chamangwana returns to his previous role as Technical Director.

On Sunday, scores of Nomads’ fans stormed the team’s club house at Chichiri in Blantyre to protest the team’s poor start to the season, which culminated in a 2-3 loss to Mafco at Kamuzu Stadium.

This was after the angry fans stormed the dressing room premises at the stadium where they bayed for Chamangwana and goalkeeper Bester Phiri’s blood.

The Nomads executive committee reacted swiftly by summoning the Chamangwana-led technical panel to an emergency meeting.

The Lali Lubani Road outfit slumped from fifth to 10th place in the TNM Super League following their loss to Mafco. They have six points from five games 12 short of leaders Blue Eagles.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—After days of speculation of change of coaching panel in Mighty Be Forward Wanderers family due to woeful performance in the TNM Super League, Jack Chamangwana has finally been fired, Maravi Post has learnt.

Last season, under the guidance of the current assistant coach Elia Kananji, Wanderers club was riding high.  It hoisted the Carlsberg Cup and coach Kananji was doused with celebratory comments in the Nomads’ house.

But Kanji was demoted to assistant coach as he is under qualified as per Football Association of Malawi’s requirements and Chamangwana took over the mantle.

Chamangwana’s leadership has seen the Lali Lubani road side losing glory in football circles following its dismal performance in the league.

The Nomads have just won one game from the five games they have played, drawn thrice and lost once thereby leaving the club with no option but to send the coach packing.

Commenting on the sacking, Wanderers’ general secretary Mike Butao said “the poor results are unacceptable” in an apparent confirming that Chamangwana deserves the chop.

According to Butao, Chamangwana has now been moved back to the position of Technical Director.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Maxi Bullets’ coach Patricio Kulemeka has been fired following dismal performance of the team in the TNM Super League.

Reports indicate that the owner of the team, Maxwell Kapanda, is not happy with the way the team is performing.

The team has played five games without a win and has two points after drawing twice and conceding three loses. The rookies lost to Mzuni FC, Moyale Barracks and Blue Eagles.

Efforts to get Kulemeka’s side of the story proved futile as his phone was out of reach.

Kulemeka was hired to guide the team a week before the league started following the sacking of maverick Leo Mpulula.

In a related development, coaches Jack Chamangwana and Franco Ndawa for Mighty BeForward Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets respectively are receiving calls for resignation following the teams’ poor run in the league.

The football giants are on six points after playing four games each, nine points behind the league leaders Blue Eagles.

Writing on social media, the impatient supporters of the two teams are calling for immediate resignation of the coaches.

“Franco Ndawa has failed us. It’s high time he considered dropping a resignation letter. His style of play is archaic and not in line with current football. He even fails to field players,” wrote one of the supporters of Bullets, who is popularly known as Maya wa Bullets on the team’s Facebook page.

Another Bullets supporter wondered why Emmanuel Zoya, newly signed Kondwani Kumwenda and goalkeeper Owen Chaima are not given chance to showcase their skills.

“Franco Ndawa must go! Why the team signed Emmanuel Zoya and Kumwenda? These players should be given chance osati zongolowetsela kulowezazo  (these players should be given chance and the lineup should not be rigid). Chaima should also be given a chance to man the goal posts, he is expericed,” he wrote.

On the other hand, many Wanderers supporters, writing on their facebook page, have argued that Chamangwana should just leave the main coaching role to under-qualified Elia Kananji.

The supporters argue that Kananji though not holding the highest available coaching license of Fam – B License is practically the best coach as compared to Chamangwana.

“Of-course Jamangwana is having a paper but on the ground is far much behind Kananji. He should just humbly allow playing puppet leaving the mantle to our beloved coach Kananji,” wrote one of the supporters.

Article 8.1 of Caf-Fam licensing regulations states that “the head coach must hold the highest available coaching license of Fam – B License or any valid foreign diploma which is equivalent to this one and recognised by Caf.”

FAM implemented this regulation this season and Big Bullets’ Mabvuto Lungu and Elia Kananji of Wanderers were affected.

However, Lungu and Kananji brought happiness to their supporters last season after winning TNM Super League and Carlsberg Cup respectively.
