Police in Texas believe that a 15-year-old girl is in grave danger one week after she disappeared with a 41-year-old man.
Maryuri Yolani Gomez Marquez was last seen in Plains, Texas, around 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, according to a statement from the Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Soon after she went missing, an AMBER alert was issued in connection with her disappearance.
Authorities said that Marquez was last seen with Juan Orlando Garcia Sarmiento, and he is now considered “wanted” by law enforcement.
It is not currently clear how Sarmiento, 41, and Maryuri know each other or if they’re related. However, KFDX reported that authorities believe the teen is in grave or immediate danger.
In addition to sharing photos of both Marquez and Sarmiento, the AMBER alert included a description of a vehicle that’s suspected to be connected to her disappearance. Authorities said that people should be on the lookout for a 2010 Black Ford with a Texas license plate number of WGV9997.
The Yoakum County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook to share that Sarmiento is wanted on “related charges” to Marquez’s disappearance. However, the department did not specify the nature of the charges.
Marquez is Hispanic with brown hair and eyes. She weighs 125 lbs and is 5’11” tall. Meanwhile, Sarmiento is also Hispanic and stands 5’9″ in height. He has black hair and brown eyes, as well as weighs 188 lbs.
Authorities are asking anyone with information or who may have seen them to call 911 or contact the Texas Department of Public Safety at (806)740-8770.
The Yoakum County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment.
Marquez disappeared just days after fellow Texan Camila Mendoza Olmos went missing on the morning of December 24, 2025, in Bexar County. While her family told authorities that she would regularly take morning walks, they noted that she left the home without her car or cell phone.
Authorities set out on a search for the 19 year old’s body, and her remains were found in a field approximately 100 yards from her home on December 30, 2025.
The medical examiner determined that Olmos died by suicide after a firearm was located at the scene, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Olmos’ family member, Nancy Olmos, broke her silence regarding the teen’s death in a Facebook post on Thursday, January 1.
“In the name of the Olmos family, we want to give a humble and heartfelt thank you to all the news reporters, police detectives, FBI, churches, friends, family and many other communities for your support and prayers,” Nancy wrote. “Our beloved Camila Mendoza Olmos is now with the Good Lord.”
She then asked that the public respect her family’s privacy in light of the difficult time. “We kindly ask that you please respect our pain and, most importantly, keep my cousin Rosario — Camila’s mom — and my nephew Carlos — Camila’s brother — in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” Nancy wrote. “Thank you, and God bless you all.”
Tommy Lee Jones’ late daughter, Victoria Jones, was found dead at age 34 on New Year’s Day in January 2026.
A spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department confirmed to Us Weekly on January 1, 2026, that paramedics were called to the Fairmont San Francisco hotel for a “report of a medical emergency” early on New Year’s Day and ultimately pronounced Victoria dead at the scene. A spokesperson for the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office told Us on January 2, 2026, that Victoria had been “identified” as the deceased.
Victoria worked as an actress in her Oscar-winning father’s movies when she was a teenager, before going on to appear briefly in hit teen drama One Tree Hill.
The New York Post reported that Victoria had several run-ins with the law in the final months of her life, including pleading not guilty to charges of obstructing a peace officer and possession of a narcotic controlled substance, among other accusations, in April 2025.
Keep scrolling for more information about Victoria’s background and her 2026 death below.
Who Was Victoria Jones?
Victoria Jones was acclaimed actor Tommy Lee Jones’ youngest child with his ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley. Her older brother, Austin Leonard Jones, was born on November 9, 1982, and Victoria arrived on September 3, 1991. (Tommy and Cloughley were married from 1981 to 1996. He was previously with his first wife, Katherine Lardner, from 1971 to 1978 and has been married to his third wife, Dawn Laurel, since 2001.)
Speaking to The New Yorker in 2008, Tommy offered some insight on Victoria’s childhood. The actor built a state-of-the-art equestrian facility across 74 acres near Buenos Aires since Victoria and Austin shared his love of equestrian sports.

“We’ve built a world-class polo field and a practice field there, so my team and the kids’ teams can play,” he explained. “My daughter has been playing polo since she was 6, and now she’s entirely fearless. She sometimes plays six chukkers.”
In polo, a chukker indicates a round, or timed period of play in a game. A standard polo match has between four and eight chukkers.

Why Did Tommy Lee Jones Once Fire Victoria From a Movie?
Tommy Lee Jones cast his daughter in more substantial roles when she was a teenager. Victoria Jones played a young Mexican immigrant in 2005’s The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, which was inspired by the real-life killing of a teenager, Esequiel Hernandez Jr., by U.S. Marines in an anti-drug operation near the United States/Mexico border in May 1997.
Tommy revealed to The New Yorker in September 2008 that he briefly fired Victoria from The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada for lateness before the crew eventually convinced him to hire her back. (Tommy directed and starred in Three Burials, which won him a Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2005.)

“She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish,” Jones explained. “When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish. But I fired my daughter. She had to get up at 5 a.m. for her part. One morning, she wouldn’t get out of bed. I said, ‘Honey, this is work.’ But she wouldn’t budge. So I fired her.”
The actor went on, “Then, without telling me, the production staff went over and woke her and rushed her out to the set just in time.”
Victoria later had a cameo in the 2014 Western drama The Homesman, which her father cowrote and directed.
Did Victoria Jones Have Run-Ins With the Law?
The New York Post reported that Victoria Jones had multiple run-ins with the law, dating back to 2011. That year, Victoria was arrested for theft of an amount between $50 to $500 in San Antonio, Texas, though the case was later dismissed.
More recently, Victoria pleaded not guilty to charges of obstructing a peace officer, using or being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a narcotic controlled substance in Napa Valley, California, in April 2025.
Two months later, Victoria once again entered a not guilty plea to charges of domestic battery and domestic violence/elder abuse in Napa Valley in June 2025. Both California cases were reportedly ongoing at the time of her death.

Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams had choice words for Andy Cohen after the Bravo star criticized him on CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live on Wednesday, December 31.
Cohen, 57, celebrated the end of Adams’ run as mayor just after midnight on Thursday, January 1, as Zohran Mamdani was being sworn in as NYC’s 112th mayor.
Calling Adams’ mayoral run “chaotic,” Cohen sarcastically said, “Great, you got your pardons. Go off into the sunset. We’ll fiddle with what we have, with what you’ve left us with.”
“Go dance away,” Cohen continued. “We’ll see you at all the parties. You’ve partied your way through four years.”
Adams, 65, hit back at Cohen via an X post later on Thursday, writing, “My response to @Andy: AA. Another sloppy drunken rant.”
“If anyone actually cares about him, they’ll tell him to get help,” he continued. “New Yorkers aren’t laughing with him. They are concerned about him. Public intoxication is a disease. He should seek help.”
“He was safe in Times Square because we did our job. Again,” Adams wrote, referring to Cohen hosting the annual CNN New Year’s Eve special live from Times Square.
“Seek help. AAA: Andy’s Alcohol Anonymous,” he concluded.

Cohen has not publicly responded to Adams’ post. Us Weekly has reached out to his representative for comment.
In 2024, Adams, who served as NYC mayor from January 2022 to December 2025, faced a federal indictment on charges including bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations. He pleaded not guilty. The charges against him were later dropped.
Cohen, meanwhile, hosted CNN’s notoriously boozy New Year’s Eve Live special with Anderson Cooper for the ninth consecutive year.
The pair were joined by actor B.J. Novak shortly after midnight, when Cohen commented on Adams’ tenure as mayor, prompting Novak to joke, “Andy, Andy, we’ve got to cut you off. I’ve seen this happen.”
Novak was referring to Cohen’s infamous rant about another former NYC mayor, Bill de Blasio, during CNN’s 2021-22 New Year’s Eve special. “[I’ve been] watching Mayor de Blasio do his ‘victory lap’ dance after four years of the crappiest job as the mayor of New York,” Cohen said at the time. “The only thing that the Democrats and the Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been, so sayonara, sucka!”
CNN defended Cohen at the time, saying in a statement, “Andy said something he shouldn’t have on live TV. We’ve addressed it with him and look forward to having him back again next year.”
“[Anderson Cooper and I] got in the car after [the CNN special] and I saw on Twitter the rant I did about de Blasio. And I did not recall — though it was about 40 minutes earlier — saying, ‘Sayonara, sucka’ to the outgoing mayor of New York,” Cohen explained.
He added, “I go,’Oh, my God, I said, ‘Sayonara, sucka.’ And [Cooper] said, ‘Yes, you did!’”
Cohen said he “had a blast” hosting the show with Cooper, 58. “It is super fun getting drunk on CNN and just raging on a soapbox. There were endorphins that I was releasing. I was like, ‘This is good!’” he said.
Matthew Lawrence shared what it’s like to deal with a marriage breakdown in the public eye following his well-publicized split from ex-wife Cheryl Burke.
The actor, 45, addressed his divorce in an interview with Daily Mail published on Thursday, January 1, after being asked what it was like to form a bond with his new partner, Chilli (real name Rozonda Thomas). The former couple married in 2019 before Burke filed for divorce in 2022.
“That’s one of the interesting things about when you choose to be in a career like this is that your private life is public, so you have to live those things out on a public stage,” he told the outlet. “And I don’t think that’s really fun for anybody, you know?”
Lawrence, who has mostly remained relatively tight-lipped about his separation from Burke over the years, added that it was difficult to deal with other people’s versions of what went wrong in his marriage.
“Especially when you don’t really have control of the narrative or if the narrative isn’t even true, you kind of just have to say, ‘Well, I’m going to have to just go on with my life and continue to live the life I want to live. And the people that I care about know what’s real and what’s not,’” he continued. “And, you just have to grow thick skin and continue on.”
Former Dancing With the Stars pro Burke, 41, has been candid about her thoughts on her divorce from Lawrence in the past. Speaking on the “I Do, Part 2” podcast in October 2025, Burke admitted she was still “grieving” the relationship breakdown, which happened around the same time she exited DWTS after 26 seasons.
“It wasn’t just the divorce with my ex. It was the divorce with Dancing with the Stars all in one year, and then leaving my home I lived in for 16 years and I moved to where I am today,” Burke explained. “So it’s like, it’s just, it was all happening in one year, and those are three big life changes. They say, if you hit five in one year, you’re most likely going to check into the nearest mental institution.”

Burke added, “To say that I haven’t or still sometimes grieve would be a lie too. I think it can be both, you know? I know that I needed to cut off basically both divorces in order for me to be able to see what I see in the mirror and actually like the person I see.”
In October 2024, Burke also claimed on a different episode of the same podcast that financial issues had negatively impacted their marriage. She wondered aloud whether Lawrence felt “emasculated” by earning less than she did.
“I knew what I was marrying. I knew what I was getting into financially,” Burke said at the time. “I’m not going to speak for him. I’m not here to bad mouth him whatsoever. But I believe that there is this gender role.”
She continued: “A man may feel a little emasculated when he doesn’t make the majority of the money. I think that may have taken a toll.”
For his part, the Mrs. Doubtfire star moved on with Chilli, and the couple are now happier than ever since they were first romantically linked in late 2022.
“I wouldn’t have been ready for this type of relationship in my early 20s. No way,” Lawrence exclusively told Us Weekly of his romance with Chilli on December 19.
He added that even in his 30s, he still might not have been ready for their type of love that he and the TLC singer share. But now, the timing was perfect.
“I think I would have definitely responded the same way, but I don’t know if I would have had the maturity or the experience of knowing what the other side is like, so that I would appreciate [it] as much as I do,” he explained to Us.

I will see you again on the other side in eternity.”
During her season, Mickey played for 59 days in the Big Brother house. She was the final houseguest to be evicted prior to the jury phase starting.

Victoria was the daughter of Tommy, 79, and his ex-wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. The couple also shares a son, Austin Jones, 43.
She previously followed in her father’s career footsteps, starring alongside the Academy Award winner in Men in Black II in 2002.
Victoria also took on acting gigs in other productions such as One Tree Hill, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and Sorry, Haters – all released in 2005.
Speaking to The New Yorker in January 2006, Tommy Lee opened up about his then 14-year-old daughter’s acting skills as she played a young Mexican girl in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.
“She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish,” Jones told the outlet at the time. “When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish.”
The movie was directed by Tommy Lee while Victoria’s stepmother, Dawn Laurel-Jones, served as the stills photographer on the film.
In the same interview Tommy Lee also praised Victoria for some of her sporting abilities.

Will Smith is being sued by professional violinist Brian King Joseph, who is accusing the actor and his company of sexual harassment and wrongful temination.
In the lawsuit, which was filed in a Los Angeles court on Tuesday, December 30 and obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday, January 1, the complaint names Smith and Treyball Studios Management as defendants.
The legal documents accuse Smith, 57, of “predatory behavior” and “deliberately grooming and priming Mr. Joseph for further sexual exploitation” during Smith’s Based on a True Story: 2025 tour.
According to the civil complaint, the America’s Got Talent alum was invited in November 2024 to join the rapper on the tour, which kicked off its first leg in Las Vegas in March 2025.
Joseph claims he returned to his Las Vegas hotel room, which was booked by Smith’s company, to find some had “unlawfully” entered the room. In the room, he allegedly discovered wipes, a beer bottle, a bottle of HIV medication with another individual’s name, and hospital discharge paperwork belonging to another person.
There was also allegedly a note in the room that read, “Brian, I’ll be back no later [sic] 5:30, just us (drawn heart), Stone F,” which the musician claims he interpreted as a message that “an unknown individual would soon return to his room to engage in sexual acts” with him.
Joseph also claims that members of management were the “only individuals with access to [his] room.” He said tour management had lost his bag, which had his room key, during the trip to Vegas.
Will Smith(Photo by David Livingston/Getty Images)
Following the incident, Joseph said he reported the situation to hotel security as well as tour management. Joseph claims that management accused him of lying, “shamed” him and blamed him for the incident.
The violinist’s employment was terminated days after the incident, with Joseph alleging that he was told by management that they were “moving in a different direction.” He alleged that he was quickly replaced by another violinist in the same position, disputing this claim.
The suit also claims that due to being fired, Joseph suffered from PTSD and economic loss. He is suing for retaliation, wrongful termination and sexual harassment, and asking that damages be determined by a jury.
Per the legal documents, Joseph further alleges that Smith was “grooming and priming” him “for further sexual exploitation” since their first meeting in November 2024. He claims they “began spending additional time alone” after meeting and prior to the tour kicking off. Joseph alleges that Smith at one point commented, “You and I have such a special connection, that I don’t have with anyone else.”
Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Smith and Joseph for comment.
The album also contained new tracks such as “Beautiful Scars,” which Smith opened up about during a radio interview in January 2025.
“The idea of ‘Beautiful Scars’ is just one of the things that really popped through for me as such a value to recognize that a difficulty, an adversity, a challenge, an obstacle is hard and painful in the moment but what you’re going through can turn out to be the greatest thing that has ever happened,” Smith told radio host Enrique Santos during an iHeartRadio Live event on January 29, 2025. “What starts out as an adversity can turn into a beautiful stepping stone.”
Chevy Chase’s daughter Caley Chase says that the cast and crew of Community heckled Chevy during a wrap party for the show.
“My dad was super excited to bring me and my mom to the wrap party,” Caley, 40, recalls in the CNN documentary I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not. “We walk in, [Community creator] Dan [Harmon], he had had some drinks. He had gotten the whole cast and crew to yell, ‘F*** you, Chevy!’ ‘F*** you, Chevy!’”
Caley continues, “I’m there, he’s showing his daughter, like, ‘This is the show I did,’ and we walk in to ‘F*** you, Chevy!’ That’s rough and mean.”
The NBC sitcom, which followed the antics of a community college study group, premiered in 2009 and was canceled after five seasons. It was revived for a sixth and final season on the short-lived streaming platform Yahoo! Screen in 2015.
Chevy, 82, played Pierce Hawthorne and left the series in 2012 after using the N-word on the set. Community director Jay Chandrasekhar, among the talking heads in I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not, says the incident occurred during a “blackface” hand puppet bit written for Chevy’s character. His costar Yvette Nicole Brown was witness to it.
“I know that there was a history between [Chevy and Yvette] around race, and she got up and stormed out of there,” Chandrasekhar, 57, recalls in the doc. “Chevy storms off, so the producer is like, ‘We need Yvette in the scene, right?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, she’s in the next scene.’ And he goes, ‘Well, she won’t come out unless Chevy apologizes to her.’”
According to Chandrasekhar, Chevy claimed he “didn’t say anything” to offend Brown, 54, and when the director asked him to apologize, “[Chevy] goes, ‘For what?’”
After The Hollywood Reporter published a story about the episode, Chandrasekhar said that Chevy came “storming onto the set, and he goes, ‘Who f***ed me over?’ … My career is ruined! I’m ruined!’ Like, it’s a full meltdown. ‘F*** all of you!’ And I’m like, ‘Alright, let’s shoot the scene.’ He never ended up coming back after that.”
Chevy had clashed with Harmon, 52, during his time on the show, and months prior to Chevy’s departure, Harmon was dismissed as showrunner weeks after leaking an angry voicemail from Chevy that circulated online. (Harmon returned to the Community writer’s room in 2013.)
“I have no idea if we’re OK,” Chevy said of his relationship with Harmon on the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast in 2023. “I’ve never been not OK. He’s kind of a pisser. He’s angry. He called and said he was sorry. I love him now.”
At the time, Brown reacted to his podcast interview via X, quipping, “He seems nice.” She also replied to a fan who asked if she would ever address her working dynamic with Chase, writing, “Never have. Probably never will.”
I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not premieres on CNN Thursday, January 1, at 8 p.m. ET.
If you love thrillers, there are some great films to choose from before they depart their current streaming homes at the beginning of January.
Given the pedigree of these movies, they’ll likely pop up again on a different streamer at some point.
But why wait? Watch With Us has already assembled the three underrated thrillers on Netflix, HBO Max and Prime Video that you need to watch before December ends.
Two of our picks are 21st-century thrillers, while the last one is a true classic in the genre.
Gone Girl isn’t a horror movie, but Amy Elliott Dunne (Rosamund Pike) is one of the scariest characters put to film in the last two decades. Through flashbacks, the film reveals just how much she resents her cheating husband, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck), and how far she’s willing to go for payback. In the present, the police are investigating Amy’s murder, and Nick finds himself boxed into a corner by mounting evidence against him.
Tyler Perry gives one of the best performances of his life as Tanner Bolt, a high-profile attorney who represents Nick. Bolt has seen it all, but the scope of this crime is beyond even his ability to predict. Nick’s life is on the line, and his every movement turns the press and the general public against him. In a small town, there’s only so far Nick can run. And now his face is plastered on cable news programs across the country as police make their case against him.
Gone Girl is streaming on HBO Max until January 1.
‘Identity’ (2003)
Identity is a variation on Agatha Christie‘s And Then There Were None, but probably not in the way she would have done it. Instead, director and James Mangold and screenwriter Michael Cooney bring ten strangers to a remote hotel in a violent storm and then begin killing them off one by one in increasingly unlikely ways.
Ex-cop Ed Dakota (John Cusack), correctional officer Samuel Rhodes (Ray Liotta) and Paris Nevada (Amanda Peet) are mystified by the killer’s ability to remain undetected and the reason they’ve been targeted. Each of these people shares something in common that unites them, even though most of them have never met before. Someone wants to make sure there’s only one survivor, and that may cause the strangers to turn on each other before the end.
If you love the classics, you’re in for a treat. Alfred Hitchcock‘s Rear Window is available to stream through the end of 2025. The primary cast of this film includes Hollywood legends James Stewart, Grace Kelly and Raymond Burr. Stewart takes the lead as L.B. “Jeff” Jefferies, a photojournalist with a broken leg who is confined to his apartment. While snooping on his neighbors, Jeff becomes convinced that one of his neighbors, Lars Thorwald (Burr), has murdered his wife.
Jeff’s girlfriend, Lisa Fremont (Kelly), is initially skeptical of his claims. But as Lisa comes to believe Jeff’s story, her willingness to put herself in danger might get both of them killed if Jeff’s suspicions are true.
Rear Window is streaming on Prime Video until January 1.
“It was just genuine raw emotion,” Mendoza, 22, admitted to People in an interview published on Friday, December 12. “Maybe it was a little too much.”
Following his Indiana Hoosiers’ victory over Ohio State in the Big 10 championship game on December 6, Mendoza stole the hearts of the internet when he was overcome with emotion on live TV.
Asked how the victory felt, the QB nearly broke down in tears as he said: “It sounds so beautiful! I want to give all the glory to God. We were never supposed to be in this position but by the great glory of God, the great coaches, the great teammates, and everyone we have around us, we were able to pull this off!”
He then quipped: “Who ever thought the Hoosiers would be here? But, now the Hoosiers are flippin’ champs! Let’s go!”
Looking back on that triumphant moment, Mendoza told People it was a completely genuine expression of his excitement.
“I was really, really happy for my team, and at the same time I didn’t wanna say anything cliche, you know, like ‘everything is possible,’” he explained. “So I just wanted to keep it down and keep it authentic and just give the world my real self.”
Mendoza felt like his sincerity may have taken viewers by surprise since it was “different than a lot of cookie-cutter interviews.”
“I think it caught people off-guard, but you know, I’m excited for people to learn the real me,” he added.
Still, Mendoza probably only heard about the incredible reaction to his viral interview second-hand. The Hoosiers quarterback revealed to The Herald Sun in October 2025 that he’d removed nearly all of the social media apps from his phone.

“I deleted all social media. The only social media right now that’s on my phone is LinkedIn and YouTube, to watch videos,” he said.
Fernando confirmed that his younger brother Alberto — who also plays for the Hoosiers — and “some marking people” handle his Instagram.
“Other than that, I am not on any social media,” he reiterated. “I want to keep everything inside the building. … There’s a lot of things where I don’t want to go to the outside noise and get the, ‘Oh, that’s so great,’ and kind of forget about those issues I need to build on. And vice versa. I’m just really trying to keep it in the building.”
He added, “We have such great coaches. I’m just trying to keep my focus on listening to their advice and their feedback.”
The athlete spoke about his viral fame mere hours before the biggest night of his football career, thus far. On Saturday, he won the Heisman Trophy over Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, and Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin. (Mendoza is the first-ever Heisman winner for the Hoosiers.)
It has been a week to remember for Mendoza, as he was named the Associated Press Player of the Year on Thursday, December 11, for leading the Hoosiers to their first Big Ten championship since 1967.
“I’m shining now but only because there are so many stars around me,” he told the outlet. “There’s an analogy that the only reason we’re able to see stars in the sky is because the light reflects from all different types of stars. I have so many stars around myself — whether it’s my teammates, my coaches, my family, support staff — that I’m able to shine now in this light, and I’m so happy for everyone to be a part of this.”
Meanwhile, the Hoosiers are looking ahead to the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2026, where they will face off with the winners of the Alabama vs. Oklahoma game, which takes place on December 19.
