Guardiola keeps title hope alive as Man City chase Arsenal: 2025/26 English Premier League

LONDON-(MaraviPost)-Pep Guardiola has refused to concede defeat in the Premier League title race, insisting the championship remains wide open despite Manchester City trailing the leaders by six points.

The City manager reminded critics and supporters alike that there are still 51 points to play for, a reality that keeps his side firmly in contention.

City’s recent run has been far from perfect, with a series of frustrating draws halting momentum at a crucial stage of the season.

Matches that once seemed routine wins have turned into missed opportunities, allowing rivals to stretch their advantage at the top of the table.

Yet Guardiola, a serial winner in English football, is not rattled by the current standings. His message was simple and deliberate, football seasons are not decided in January.

Experience, he believes, counts heavily when pressure rises and the margins become finer.

“In terms of points, 51 to play, six the difference everything is open,” Guardiola said, a statement that captured both realism and belief.

Manchester City have built a reputation for strong finishes under Guardiola. In previous campaigns, they have chased down deficits, stringing together relentless winning runs when it mattered most. That history fuels confidence inside the Etihad, even as the gap remains.

The Spaniard, however, was quick to warn against complacency. He dismissed any notion that dropped points by rivals automatically improve City’s situation, stressing that improvement must start from within his own squad.

Guardiola acknowledged that his team has not been at its best in recent weeks.

Missed chances, lapses in concentration and injuries have all played a role in slowing their charge.

Still, he views these challenges as part of a long season rather than fatal flaws.

Football: Guardiola backs fans amid ticket protests

Pep Guardiola has promised Manchester City fans that he will intercede on their behalf ahead of the planned protests by supporters over the alleged refusal to increase the number of season ticket-holders.

City fans have already held two protests surrounding their discontent over the increase of the Etihad Stadium capacity by 9,000 seats yet seeing fewer seasons tickets than six years ago.

Supporters have also seen ticket prices increase which has led to the protests being held ahead of Friday’s match at home to Wolves.

Guardiola has called on fans to help the team in their battle for Champions League football next season with City currently in fourth place and just one point clear of sixth-placed Nottingham Forest.

Man City secures all-important away victory in Champions League semis

Man City players celebrating one of their goals

Second half goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez saw City fight back from behind to clinch a superb Champions League semi-final first leg triumph at Paris Saint-Germain.

Trailing at the break to a first-half Marquinhos header, Pep Guardiola’s side staged a stunning turnaround after the break at the Parc des Princes.

Having first drawn level through skipper De Bruyne’s 64th minute cross-cum shot, City then took an all-important lead thanks to Mahrez’s 71st minute free-kick.

On a night of high drama the hosts were then reduced to 10 men when Idrissa Guye was sent off for a blatant foul on Ilkay Gundogan.

And City deservedly held firm to seal a famous and crucial victory – one of the finest in our European history.

“Of course, it’s still only half-time in the tie – but tonight’s result will put us in great heart ahead of next Tuesday’s decisive second leg,” said Guardiola.
