Cyclone Freddy’s response: Chibuku Products aids cement towards Thyolo Central survivors’ house construction

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-In its response to Cyclone Freddy’s impact, Chibuku Products Limited on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, donated 200 bags of cement towards the construction of ten houses for Thyolo Central Constituency’s survivors houses.

The donation comes after the constituency’s legislator Ben Phiri initiated a resources mobilization campaign towards the project.

Speaking at its Blantyre offices, Chibuku Products Limited’s Brand Manager a Mr. Chimtengo after the donation, commended Thyolo parliamentarian Phiri for coming up with the initiative to build houses for those affected by Cyclone Freedy hence the need for support.

“Chibuku product is a friend to the people of Thyolo and the nation at large. We believe in social responsibility and giving back to our customers. When we heard that Thyolo Central was having a self-initiative led by its lawmaker to rebuild what was lost.

“We came in and helped with 200 bags of cement to construct houses for victims of the disaster which left many people homeless. We came in just as we did during the pick of the cyclone by donating food items to the victims of Thyolo Central”, said Chimtengo.

On his part, Phiri who is also an opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) senior member lauded Chibuku products for timely support.

“Chibuku Products has come at the right time to the rescue of Thyolo district hospital by refurbishing ambulances that were grounded for the district hospital when he approached them for assistance together with K Motors

He therefore assured the company that the donated cement would be used for its intended purpose.

Cyclone Freddy response: Thyolo Central lawmaker Ben Phiri constructing houses for survivors

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Member of Parliament (MP) for Thyolo Central constituency Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri is constructing ten houses for cyclone freddy survivors, we have established.

On Friday, April 21, 2023 Phiri went on the ground to inspect the progress of the project which is taking shape and hopes will help to solve the problem of accomodation, which freedy victims are facing .

In an interview with our reporter during the inspection tour.

Phiri said he is happy that the project is progressing on well and will help over ten families for a start.

“I want to thank family and friends for making this possible, on my own i could have not managed to raise funds to construct these houses, this has been possible because of my family and friends. I want to extend my gratitude, to them. They have saved hundreds in time of need and their help is timely” Said Phiri.

Phiri hopes that many people and friends will come in and pump in more resources to construct more houses to reach the hundreds that are now in camps.

Thyolo central is one of the areas that was badly affected by Cyclone Freddy which has seen thousands misplaced and hundred losing lives.
