LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi giants, Mighty Wanderers football club are upbeat of beating the Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy in the CAF Confederation league on Sunday as they believe their player’s international experience with national team will play a great role.
Team’s head coach who is also the former player of the nomads, Bob Mpinganjira said on Saturday that, they have talked to their players about the pivotal of the match.
“We are aware that we are playing a very good team and we know the importance of the encounter. This is another level of football, but we are hopeful that our players’s international experience with the national team can help us.
“We have players who have international experience, and we are encouraging our boys that everything is possible in football. We have studied them [Jwaneng Galaxy] they are a very good team , we know what kind of game it is going to be”, he stated.
Wanderers are returning to action from almost a two-week after their scheduled TNM Super league against Silver Strikers was postponed due to the ongoing election period in Malawi.
Despite the break, the Nomads maintained match fitness with a 2-1 victory over Mzuzu City Hammers in the FDH Bank Cup last week.
The match promises to be a stern test for nomads as they seek to return to the continental showpiece with a bang and make a mark once again.
Mpinganjira has since appealed to fans to turn up in large numbers as they always do to support the team.
“The fans should turn out in good numbers as they always do. We believe that with their support, we can get the result we are looking for,” said Mpinganjira.
The match against Jwaneng Galaxy on Sunday at Bingu National Stadium, marks the return of the Nomads to the continental football since 2018.
The Blantyre based giants last competed in CAF competition seven years ago when they suffered elimination at the hands of Democratic Republic of Congo’s AS Vita Club.
