JALISCO-(MaraviPost)-At least 21 people have been reported dead and 29 others have fallen ill after consuming the drink that contained a “high concentration” of methanol in state of Jalisco, Mexico.

Officials of western state of Jalisco disclosed this in a statement.

A report by TRT world news revealed that the victims started showing symptoms of blurred vision and/or vision loss, intense abdominal pain, difficulty breathing and convulsions on Saturday.

During a press conference, the state health official Huge Esparza revealed that 56 people have been affected in two municipalities in the western state.

Laboratory tests showed that the patients ingested cane alcohol purer than that made for drinking that contained “high concentration” of methanol manufactured in neighboring Michoacan state.

At least 700 liters of the liquor were seized following the incident.

Jalisco authorities have however refused to provide details of the condition of the other people who have been affected.
