MBC to sort late Blessings Nyondo’s family out of court

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) reveals that Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has agreed to an out-of- Court settlement with the Family of late Blessings Nyondo.

MBC says will settle the full agreed Compensation by March 2022.

The development comes after MHRC investigation fully revealed the death of Nyondo who was shot on 31st December 2020.

The late blessings died on January 8, 2021 at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Brantyre.

In a statement made available to Maravi Post and signed by commission’s Executive Secretary Habiba Osman states that MHRC alluded that the Family members and relatives of former polytechnic student, who was shot dead by the MBC guard should make applications to the courts of law against the state and Mr Chanukha to get compersation for the loss of the victims life to mitigate their suffering.

Meanwhile the commission has recommended MBC to comply with the recommendations of the Commission and for their cooperation during the whole process.
