BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Organizers of ‘’Free Mussa John Parade’’ have given President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera 21 days to pardon Mussa John who is serving a three-year-jail term at Chichiri prison for being found in possession with 78 plastic bags of Indian hemp.

Hundreds of people against selective justice in Malawi took the streets of Blantyre carrying placards to demand President Chakwera listen to the Malawian cries by pardoning a 19-year-old-boy Mussa John.
Mussa John’s story touched millions souls of Malawians that justice was not delivered in the interest of the poor who are being sent to prison while the rich do not have time to enter plea of prosecutions money is buying for them justice.
Mussa John’s mother, Lita Chimthenga was also part of the parade which attracted both men and women parading peacefully in what many have described it as the parade of a purpose for President Chakwera to pardon the boy.
Besides Thursday’s parade in the City of Blantyre, there have been so many calls going to President Chakwera to listen to the cries of Malawians to pardon Mussa but it seemed the calls have not reached the President as evidenced with no action on the matter.
Speaking when presenting the petition to the Blantyre District Commissioner, leader of the Parade Musician (Fredokiss) whose real name is Penjani Kalua, appealed to President Chakwera to demonstrate the spirit of love and comfort in pardoning the teenager.
Kalua argued that other offenders including Castel Malawi Managing Director, Burundian national who faced similar offences of being found in possession and cultivating Indian hemp were given non-custodial sentences including fines while Mussa John was not because he is poor.
“We have paraded with our hearts and walked with our feet, we are expecting President Chakwera to pardon Mussa John,” said Kalua.
Mussa John’s mother Lita Chimthenga therefore appealed to the country’s First Lady Madame Monica Chakwera to talk to her husband to have mercy on her son.
Chimthenga while shedding tears coming down her cheeks expressed hope that spirit of the Lord will touch on the heads of the First Lady and President Chakwera being father and mother that they will pardon her son.
